Panthers vs. Lightning: NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay (Monday)
The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning head back to Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida to play Game 5 on Monday night. It’s one of only two NHL Stanley Cup Playoff games on Monday’s slate, with the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Dallas Stars afterward with a 9:40 p.m. ET puck drop.
Game 4 was a potential elimination game during Saturday’s matchup at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Surprisingly, the Lightning quickly buried three goals in the first period to build an insurmountable deficit. The Panthers did briefly steal momentum in the second period, storming back from a 4-1 deficit to make it 4-3, before Tampa Bay, led by veteran Steven Stamkos, scored two more goals in the third period to seal their first win in this Eastern Conference playoff series.
Now, coming off of Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky’s worst game in the crease in quite some time, the Panthers will look to close out Tampa Bay once again, this time on home ice, during Game 5.
We just hit a +257 SGP during Vancouver’s wild comeback win over Nashville on Sunday! This marks our second SGP win of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, which are published daily. Follow me @Matt_MacKay_ on X to get more free plays, NHL Prop Bets, and NHL best bets during the week.
Monday's NHL SGP
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Leg 1: Under 8.5 Total Goals (-500)
The scoring in this series has begun to tick upward, as evidenced during Tampa Bay’s 6-3 win in Game 4. I don’t expect the scoring to be quite as high during Game 5, but we’re still going to lay a lot of juice with this first leg by inserting under 8.5 total goals at -500 odds.
Sergei Bobrovsky has surrendered three or less goals in eight of his previous 10 starts prior to Saturday’s loss, while Andrei Vasilevskiy has been a bit more loose. Tampa Bay’s goalie has allowed three or more goals in Game 2, Game 3, and Game 4 following just two goals surrendered in Game 1. I expect both netminders to be sharp, so if we see one of these teams pull away late with an empty-net goal, resulting in a 5-3 outcome, we will still be in business by taking under 8.5 total goals.
Leg 2: Matthew Tkachuk To Record 1+ Points (-280)
Matthew Tkachuk leads the Panthers in total points during this series. Tkachuk is -280 to record at least one point, which is solid value considering how integral he is to Florida’s offense.
Tkachuk has recorded at least one point in all four games played against Tampa Bay during the playoffs, including two points each in Game 3 and Game 4. He’s active everywhere in the offensive zone for the Panthers, so we’re confidently inserting Tkachuk to record a point at -280 odds for our second leg of this Same Game Parlay.
Leg 3: Steven Stamkos To Record 1+ Points (-156)
Steven Stamkos has dialed up his production against the Panthers this series. The veteran winger has six total points in four games, including five goals, scoring at least once in every single playoff matchup against Florida heading into Game 5.
Stamkos skates on the first-line attack alongside Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, who are equally as talented. He’ll get plenty of chances to extend his goal scoring streak or to chip in on a scoring play via assist during another must-win game to avoid elimination against the Panthers on Monday night.
Same Game Parlay: +219
We’re rolling out another three-leg Same Game Parlay at 2-1 odds for Monday’s Game 5 matchup between the Panthers and Lightning. We’re targeting two of the top point scorers in this series, Matthew Tkachuk and Steven Stamkos, to continue producing in the offensive zone for their respective teams.
The other leg sends us back into the alternate total goals market, taking under 8.5 total goals at -500 odds. It’s juiced, but it’s a relatively safe way to ensure we don’t get hooked if the game winds up being won by either team at 5-3 or 6-2. This brings us to +219 odds for our SGP, built using the same markets that we used to win a +257 SGP between Nashville and Vancouver on Sunday.
