You saw from Game 3 that although Florida didn't win, it was a turning point. They figured out how to push the puck in the Rangers' zone, get through that tough blue line, and bring pressure at the net. They have averaged 33.5 shots on goal and 16.5 high-danger chances in the last two games after averaging 27.5 and 11.5 in the first two.
When you have to rely on your offense to beat the Panthers, most of the time, you will be unsuccessful. New York was able to pull that off in Game 3, even with a -14 shot differential, but that isn't their style and saw them come up short in Game 4. They win by disrupting their opponent on defense and taking advantage of their top-tier special teams unit. The Power Play has been non-existent for the Blueshirts as they are 1-for-11 in this series after finishing fourth during the regular season (26.2%). Their star forwards need to step up because they are struggling; Artemi Panarin has just two assists, while Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad are pointless.
We've already seen the Rangers lose at home in this series, and Florida looks like the team we've seen throughout the regular season. The Presidents' Trophy Curse might have been sleeping through the first two rounds because now we're seeing the strengths of Rangers wither. A team that just a year ago made it to the Stanley Cup Finals now has momentum and confidence; the Panthers could steal another one in Madison Square Garden.
