PGA Betting Picks: Best Prop Bets for The Houston Open (2021)

The 2021-22 PGA Tour seasons return stateside this week, as the three-event international swing is now over. Memorial Park Golf Course will host the Houston Open, the year’s second-to-last event before they pack up until January.

Let’s take a closer look at two golfers positioned as strong values to secure a top-10 finish this weekend.

Top-10 Finish

Brooks Koepka (+275 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Though he’s certainly been off his game the last half dozen times we’ve seen him on a golf course, I’m still riding with Koepka, especially at these odds and in this spot. A rare “horse for the course” given we’ve only seen it once, Koepka helped design Memorial Park Golf Course and knows the track intimately.

Despite struggling out of the gates in 2021, he still placed T6 or higher in three majors to end 2020. During this event last year, he shot back-to-back 65’s to tie for fifth. I like Koepka to have a similar outing and take advantage of a weaker Houston Open. field

Talor Gooch (+240 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Gooch checks a ton of boxes. In four events so far in 2021, Gooch has finished T11 or higher (including a T5 and T4) and has shot 69 or better in a staggering 75% of his rounds thus far. Before a final-round 74 last week at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, he was in a position to secure the win outright in Mexico.

Taking a look at his track record at Memorial Park Golf Course, Gooch secured fourth place last year after shooting a 63 on Sunday for the lowest round anyone had all week.

As far as his metrics go throughout this hot start, Gooch enters this event with a scoring average of 69.522 (fifth on Tour), 1.895 SG: Tee-To-Green (third), and .927 SG: Around-The-Green (sixth). All of those metrics point to a strong finish in Houston.
