PGA Betting Picks: Best Prop Bets for The Mayakoba World Wide Technology Championship (2021)

The 2021-22 golf season is off to a roaring start as the international leg of the fall comes to an end this weekend at the Mayakoba World Wide Technology Championship in the south of Mexico. At a course hosting this event for the 15th straight season, players will find beautiful backdrops as the course is located directly on the coast of the Caribbean Sea.

With that, let’s take a closer look at the field and see where the value remains.

Top-10 Finish

Justin Thomas (+140 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
On a week where most of the world’s true elite won’t be suiting up, I can’t look away from JT in this spot. With 16 career wins on Tour, his resume speaks for itself, and it might only be getting better for the 28-year-old.

Here at Cameleon, I believe the course is suited for his strengths, including accuracy but lack of distance. Another huge advantage for JT; the paspalum greens. On courses that have paspalum greens, JT is averaging 2.4 Strokes Gained: Putting per round, a whole 0.6 ahead of the #2 in the field.

While his putter is often the club to bring him down, this should be less of a concern than most weeks, and so I’m riding with JT to go low in this one.

Abraham Ancer (+170 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
As the top Mexican national in the field this week, Ancer will be looking for his first professional win in his home country. But, coming off a season where he picked up his first professional win anywhere, at stacked field WGC event no less, that’s not all Ancer has been up to the past few months.

Throughout the final five events of last season, Ancer had four top 15s, including that win, all while playing some of the best competition in the world.

Like JT, Ancer lacks the distance needed to compete on Tour week in and week out, but that issue goes away here at Cameleon. Add in a T12 finish in his last go at this course last season, and I like for Ancer to go even lower this weekend find himself near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
