PGA Betting Picks: Best Prop Bets for The Sony Open (2022)

The PGA Tour is back in action this week with its first full field of the 2022 calendar year. Last week at the Sentry hosted at Kapalua Resort, Cameron Smith took first and set a new PGA Tour record to finish the weekend 34-under par has he outdueled Jon Rahm for the title.

This week the Tour heads West to Honolulu, as Waialae Country Club hosts the Sony Open.

Let’s take a closer look at a few prop bets I have my eye on.

Top-20 Finish

Kevin Kisner (+170 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Following the theme of taking Georgia Bulldogs this week, I like this alumn to fair almost equally well at the Sony. Finishing T8 last week at Kapalua, Kisner lacked the distance off the tee to win there, but that won’t be a problem at this course.

Where accuracy is needed more often than most places, Kisner comes into this week #1 on Tour in driving accuracy and fairways hit. That’s in addition to his #9 ranking in Greens in Regulation.

Looking at his course history here, Kiz has made the cut in all seven appearances and has three top-five finishes, including a solo 4 in 2020. With his iron game coming back around after a poor finish to 2020-21, Look for Kisner to go low in this lighter than usual field at the top.

Russell Henley (+110 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Coming into this week’s #5 in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach over the last 24 rounds played, Henley has been dialing it in to start the 2021-22 calendar season. In his five starts, Henley has made the cut in each one and has finished inside the top 25 in four.

With three top 20s, including a T11 last year, already under his belt here at Waialae, look for Henley to remain hot and be lurking near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
