PGA Betting Picks: Best Prop Bets for The Zozo Championship (2021)

The PGA Tour heads to Asia as the players return to Japan for the first time since the Olympics just a couple of months ago. In another no-cut event, Narashino Country Club will play host to a field of 78.

The field is still stacked with some heavy hitters for being overseas, as this week’s purse is the biggest one on the fall schedule.

Let’s take a look at the field itself and see where the value remains.

Top-10 Finish

Colin Morikawa (-125 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
After a rocky finish to the 2021 season that I think could essentially be summed up to a packed schedule with very little rest between events, Morikawa is right back to where he was in mid-2020. Starting the season with a dominant performance at the Ryder Cup followed by a solo #2 last week, Morikawa is flushing the ball with the best on Tour, and his tee-to-green metrics are creeping back up to the best on Tour.

If not for a poor start last week, Morikawa would have run away with the tournament as he shot a 62 on Sunday to finish one being winner Rory McIlroy.

In his only appearance here two years ago, Morikawa finished T22 in a more crowded field, and like a shell of the golfer, he is today.

Top-20 Finish

Rickie Fowler (-125 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
It’s been a difficult 18-24 months for Fowler as he’s seemingly missed as many cuts as he made and has fallen far from the upper echelon player he was for so long. In his two events this year, however, Fowler has shown promise that was highlighted by a T3 finish last week at The CJ.

Not only did he see results come Sunday, but Fowler also led the entire field in SG: Tee-to-green and GIR. Two metrics that will put him in contention at any event he enters on Tour.

Having found success overseas before, he nows heads to Japan to face a lesser talented field and away from the spotlight that has seemingly doomed him in over this multi-year low point he has been on.

I like Fowler to take the confidence he should’ve gained last week into this one and find himself near the top of the leaderboard again come Sunday.
