PGA Tour Betting Picks and Guide: Mayakoba World Wide Technology Championship (2021)

The PGA Tour stays abroad this week but this time heads south of the border for the Mayakoba World Wide Technology Championship at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Mexico. In what will be the 15th year in a row the course has hosted a PGA Tour event, the field is stacked with great players and should make for a great event.

Let’s take a closer look at where the field (and its value) currently remains.

Course Preview (El Camaleon Golf Club)

Located directly on the ocean along the Caribbean Sea, El Camaleon will offer all the added challenges as ocean courses usually do; most notably the wind and coastline eye site of many of the player’s shots. It also, however, ranks as one of the easiest courses these guys will see on Tour all season, with a top 5 easy ranking in SG: Putting, as well as some of the most birdie-able Par 3s on the schedule.

From a length perspective, it comes in at just over 7000 yards and is set up beautifully for these guys to go low with the winner of the last three events being below -20.

Abraham Ancer (+1600 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Once again playing in his home country of Mexico, Abraham Ancer is shaping up to be my favorite play of the week. Lacking the distance to become one of the consistent great players on Tour, he doesn’t need it this week as Cameleon is one of the shortest tracks these guys will see all season.

Looking back at how he ended in 2021, with a casual four top 15s (including his first career win at the WGC event) in his final five events. The last time we saw him play this season he also looked great, a T14 finish at the CJ Cup where he had chances to go even lower.

Add in his track record here at Cameleon which includes a T12 just last year, and I like for Ancer to find himself at or near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday morning.
