The 2022 calendar year will get off to a pronounced start this weekend, with a field full of heavy hitters going at it in Maui. With this tournament restricted annually to players who won a tournament in the previous year, the field is a who’s who of guys who can go ultra-low at a moment’s notice.

Course Preview Kapalua Resort (Plantation Course)
While this event has tended to be across many different courses over the year, all, including this one, feature pure Bermuda grass and greens. This season, it will be the 4th easiest course on Tour, with the scoring average being 2.19 under par.
One feature of this course that players will have to note is the wind forecasts, but they currently are expected to be mild at below 10mph. The course is also known for its large greens, which are easy to hit but can leave for lengthy putts for those not precise.

Jordan Spieth (+2200 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
Having not won an event in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Spieth didn’t qualify for this event since 2018 but has this season. Coming into the week, he holds the best strokes-gained number in the field at 2.81 and has absolutely dominated at Kapalua.
In his four starts here dating back to 2014, Spieth has finished in the top 10 all four times, including three top threes and a win in 2016. In his combined 16 rounds, Spieth has shot 70 or lower all but four.
Like most top players, Spieth’s 2021-22 calendar has been kept mostly light playing in just two events since the 2021 season ended. Finishing top 20 in both, Spieth looks poised this season to once again be major hunting in 21-22. I like for that to get started here.
