PGA Tour Betting Picks and Guide: The RSM Classic (2021)

In what will be the last officially sanctioned PGA Tour event of the year where FedEx Cup points get handed out, Sea Island, GA, will play host this week to one of the more shallow fields of the fall slate. A unique aspect of this event boasts a larger than average (156) field. Two courses (Seaside and Plantation) will play host to Thursday and Friday, while just Seaside will take us through the weekend.

Let’s take a closer look at this week’s field and where the value remains.

Course Preview (Sea Island Seaside Course)
With all but one of this weekend’s rounds being played on the Seaside course, we’re going to focus on it for this preview. Like last week, the players will see tight tree-lined fairways that run up to large Bermuda greens common in this part of the country.

The rough around those fairways and greens will also be Bermudagrass, though not as deep as relative to the rest of the tracks they’ve seen so far this fall. As is the case with most ocean-lined courses, wind and water hazards will be the biggest issues they run into throughout the weekend, as the course comes in as one of the easiest all season otherwise.

Outright Betting Picks

Robert Streb (+7000 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
The only two-time winner in this event’s history, Robert Streb comes into this weekend with more than just a “horse for the course” labeling on his side. To start the 2021 season, not only has he made four of five cuts, but he has two top 10s and three top 20s, including a T7 last week at the Houston Open.

His driving accuracy % of 70.9% is good enough for 9th on Tour thus far and is a metric that will serve him well here on the tight fairways at Seaside. While it’s clear he already knows his way around the course, his putting, which will make or break his weekend here at Seaside, has been near the top of all players on Tour this season as well, coming at 28th.

Between his recent form and history here at Seaside, I see a ton of value at 70-1 odds for Streb to find himself near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
