Premier League Matchday 28 Odds, Picks & Predictions (2023)

As they play Crystal Palace on Sunday, Arsenal will have the chance to extend their five-point advantage atop the Premier League this weekend. Meanwhile, the team that is closest to the Gunners in the standings, Manchester City, will play this weekend in the FA Cup quarterfinal, a match not relevant to the EPL table.

Another team with a similar opportunity is Tottenham, who could overtake a dormant Manchester United team and go into third position with a win at Southampton. In addition, Nottingham Forest hopes to snap a protracted losing streak when it hosts Newcastle, a team that is now outside the top four and aiming to reclaim a spot in the Champions League.

With all that in mind, let’s take a closer look at a couple of spots I’m on for this weekend in the EPL.

Southampton (+370) vs. Tottenham (-130)

On Wednesday, Southampton made a valiant effort to draw with Brentford, but they were unable to recover after conceding an early goal. They’ll approach Tottenham in the same way, and even if that gives some cause for concern, I still think the Saints have some life at home.

The expectation is that Harry Kane doesn’t take advantage of the few chances he receives, which is frequently a risky betting strategy because he will have opportunities. Even still, Tottenham has only scored twice in their last three league away games, and it seems ten times more difficult for them to score away from home. If it holds true once more, Southampton should be on the verge of forcing a scoreless draw, and at that point, I love the value in getting them at nearly 4 to 1 to sneak one by the keeper.

Pick: Southampton (+370)

Brentford (-110) vs. Leicester City (+290)

As they face a faltering Leicester City, Brentford will try to build on their recent success, as they look to build on their record this season at home, which has been outstanding. On the other side, Leicester City is a team in freefall, and at this moment, they don’t seem to be able to buy a victory. Brentford is a strong team and should prevail in this match, and I think the odds for their side should be much higher than they currently are.

Pick: Brentford (-110)
