Rocket Mortgage Classic Betting Odds, Picks & Guide (2022)

Seemingly as soon as it started, the 2021-22 PGA Tour season is coming to an end, with just two regular season events remaining between now and August 14th’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first playoff event. This week, we head to Detroit Golf Club for the fourth straight year, with plenty of players still jockeying for positioning inside the field’s final playoff cut.

Following a week of relative no-namers in Minnesota, the Rocket Mortgage Classic is packed with big-name talent, and should leave no shortage of drama come Sunday afternoon in Motown.

Lets take a closer look.

Course Preview: Detroit Golf Club

Coming in at 7,370 yards, the Donald Ross-designed Detroit Golf Club is one that these professionals have dominated since coming here in 2019, with the average winning score coming in at -22. Featuring flat fairways and very few rolling hills like we’ve seen in recent weeks, DGC is a flat course with few hazards in play outside of a few tree-lined holes on the front nine.

Most notably, players who excel in Par 4s in the 350-400 yard range have found the most success here, and we’ll keep them in mind when breaking down our projected winner.

Kevin Kisner – (+3500 on DraftKings Sportsbook

It was a tough end of spring for Kis as April through the start of June produced five missed cuts in six events started, but he’s appeared to move past that. Starting with a T6 at the star-studded Travelers at the end of June, Kisner finished T21 at the British Open after carding a 65 Saturday to put himself inside the top 20 ahead of Sunday.

He also comes into the week with some course history here that’s amongst the best in the field. Having started all three events played here, Kisner is three for three in made cuts, with his last two appearances garnering a third (2020) and T8 (2021). In his 12 rounds played here, Kisner’s scoring average is 68.5, and I like for him to find similar success this week.

Currently sitting 32nd in the FedEx Cup rankings, Kisner is approaching the tail end of his playing career on Tour, and a solid performance here would go a long way in his boosting his confidence for the final few weeks of the season.
