Rose Bowl Game Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Monday (1/2)

The typical Big Ten vs. Pac-12 game is scheduled for The Granddaddy of ‘Em All, with Penn State taking on Utah live from Pasadena.

With Sean Clifford, who is playing in his final game, and the help of running back Nicholas Singleton, who averages an elite 6.3 yards per carry, Penn State brings in an offense that is gaining confidence after finishing the regular season strong, averaging 41 points per game the last month of the year.

With their own ferocious offensive effort led by quarterback Cameron Rising, Utah upset the favorite USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The victory prevented the Trojans from competing in the College Football Playoff and will be one USC fans won’t be soon to forget.

Rose Bowl Game Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Monday (1/2)

(#11) Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Utah Utes (#8)

Bet #1: Total Touchdowns – Over 6.5 (+100)

With two top-35 offenses and experienced quarterbacks, I expect a lot of touchdowns to be scored in this one. Utah quarterback Cam Rising, who accounted for 25 touchdowns on his own this season, will be making his second straight Rose Bowl start.

Last season, Utah put up 45 points in their narrow 3-point loss, but Rising left early with an injury.

For Penn State, Clifford comes into this game throwing 22 touchdowns on the season, and I like him to make his final mark on this one with a multi-touchdown performance.

Bet #2: Race to 20 Points – Utah (-130)

The Nittany Lions will be without corner Joey Porter Jr. who has declared for the NFL Draft and will miss this game as a result. A projected first-round pick, Porter Jr. has played a key role in the team’s defense all season long and will be sorely missed in this one.

Penn State will also have to deal with a team in Utah that has now won six of their past seven games, including a 47-24 rout of USC in the PAC-12 championship game. Look for the Utes to get off to a fast start in this one before things even up later on in the game.

Bet #3: Overtime – Yes (+1100)

With a spread of just -1.5, oddsmakers expect this game to be a nail-biter. At 11/1 odds, I think there’s value in it being just that.

After Utah goes up early, look for Penn State to draw it even late in the fourth quarter.
