Thursday's Best MLB Bets: Royals vs. Red Sox
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Kansas City Royals (+200) at Boston Red Sox (-245) | O/U 10.5 (-110/-110)
After a solid start to the season, James Paxton is having a bit of a rough stretch with a 5.40 ERA, 5.75 FIP, and opposing batters are hitting .287 in his last six starts. The long ball and walks were the problems in the two worst starts of this stretch, and he'll benefit from facing the Royals, who are 26th in home run rate and 29th in walk rate.
Alec Marsh is a power pitcher that can reach his fastball into the upper 90s, the problem for the rookie is his control. His walk rate is 5.5 per nine, and he overcompensates by leaving pitches in the zone, allowing 3.2 home runs per nine.
Paxton can rebound against a struggling offense and the Red Sox should easily get the win.
Pick: Red Sox -1.5 (-125)
