San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams Odds and Game Pick (2020)

As the 2020 NFL season turns the corner for the home stretch of the season, the NFC West is starting to look very crowded at the top.

For the reigning NFC Champion 49ers, another loss could very well mean the end with just four regular-season games remaining. For the home Rams, who are unbeaten in their new home in Inglewood, a win here would keep them on pace to win the division and one step closer to a return to Super Bowl glory.

Let’s take a closer look.

Overview

For the visiting 49ers, there aren’t many teams in the league who have had more challenges in 2020. Beyond having a recent COVID-19 outbreak that saw nine players sent to the COVID-19 list, the 49ers are without their franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo who is on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain.

New starter Nick Mullens, who has seen mixed results at the helm, is also without the 49er’s top three targets in tight George Kittle, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk who are all dealing with an injury or COVID-related issues.

Coming into this one with back to back wins over two of their top challengers in the NFC in Seattle and Tampa Bay, the Rams are a confident bunch. While quarterback Jared Goff is finally starting to find his rhythm, including three touchdowns on 376 yards on Monday Night Football against Tom Brady, the defense is largely to thank.

In their win against Seattle, they have six sacks and four interceptions, and limited All-World Tom Brady to just 216 passing yards, frustrating the veteran all night long.

Trends

  • The Underdog is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 Rams-49ers meetings
  • The Over is 5-2 in the last seven Rams-49ers meetings in LA
  • The Rams are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight as a home favorite

Prop Bet

Los Angeles Rams (-6.5) & Over (45.5) points
Not only do I like the home Rams to continue to stay undefeated at home in this one, I think the return of Mostert gives the 49ers a boost in what turns out into a shootout in Los Angeles.

Bottom Line

For the 49ers, a bye couldn’t have come at a better time as by all indications they wouldn’t have been able to take the field last week anyway due to a COVID-19 outbreak that kept them locked out of their facilities for a week straight.

As kickoff approaches for this one, bettors have definitely recognized that, as the line creeps closer to the visiting 49ers who by all indications should get running back Raheem Mostert and Cornerback Richard Sherman back on the field in time for this one.

In this one, however, with two teams familiar as anyone with each other facing off, I like the Rams to continue to stay hot and pick up their third straight win.

Pick: Rams -6
