The Seahawks dropped their first game of the season last week, as the Saints bested Seattle 33-27 at home. The Seahawks are now 2-1 in a crowded NFC West that features the 3-0 Rams and 3-0 49ers. However, Seattle will travel to their winless divisional foe this weekend to face the 0-2-1 Arizona Cardinals. Needless to say, this situation screams bounce back for a team that let one slip away last week.

We have played three weeks of football, and the Cardinals are lucky to have a tie under their belt at 0-2-1. Arizona has the third-worst point differential in the NFC (-24), only trailing the Giants (-31) and Redskins (-31) in that regard. That’s not exactly the type of company you want to keep. In other words, it’s not surprising to see the Cardinals check-in as substantial home underdogs in this spot.

Overview

Russell Wilson seems to be everyone’s favorite fantasy pick of the week, as he’ll face a generous Arizona secondary that allowed 261 yards and four touchdowns to Carolina quarterback Kyle Allen last week. Yeah, that’s right…the Panthers backup signal-caller was able to shred the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Wilson tossed 401 yards last Sunday against the Saints, and he could be in for another monster performance here.

On the other side of the ball, things haven’t fully clicked for the Cardinals’ offense. However, this could be a sneaky “get right” spot against a Seahawks’ defense that has had their own problems in the secondary. Speaking to a similar note, should we look towards the over in this game, as we could have a fast-paced shootout on our hands? That’s some interesting food for thought as the total has crept into the 48-point range.

Trends

  • The Seahawks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games.
  • The Seahawks are 7-5 to the over against the NFC West in the last two years.
  • The Cardinals are 7-5-1 ATS as a home underdog in the last two years.
  • The Cardinals are 8-5 to the under as home underdogs in the last two years.

Prop Bets

Russell Wilson OVER 255.5 Passing Yards
Honestly, I was expecting to see this number in the 260s or above, so I’ll take over 255.5 passing yards in a heartbeat. Seattle will try to establish the run here, and I’m not expecting Wilson to come close to his 50 pass attempts from last week. However, he should make up for that with some efficient numbers to put him well above 255.5 passing yards against a terrible Arizona secondary.

Bottom Line

The Seahawks felt like they let a game slip away last week, and the Cardinals have their full attention as they look to avenge that disappointment. That’s not good news for a young team still trying to figure things out on the fly. Give me Seattle by a touchdown or more here.
