Stephen Fulton vs. Daniel Roman: Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Prediction (2022)

Showtime is scheduled to host a great night of fights on Saturday, headlined by a pair of super bantamweight in Stephen Fulton -750, taking on Daniel Roman +460. The unification of the WBC and WBO belts will be on the line, as Fulton will look to keep his undefeated record in tact against a veteran in Roman looking for one last championship-level run of his career.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the fighters and how things might shake out Saturday night at The Armory in Minneapolis, MN.

Stephen Fulton (20-0-0, 8 KOs) vs. Daniel Roman (29-3-1, 10 KOs)

At just 27 years old, Fulton ascended to the top of the super bantamweight division holding the WBC and WBO belts. Having beaten eight undefeated fighters in his last 14 bouts, Fulton has cemented himself as one of the best young fighters in the sport and is widely considered one of the most technically sound pound-for-pound boxers on the planet.

With head coach Whaid Rahm in his corner, Fulton picked up his first title, the IBO super bantamweight, in 2019 and continued to climb. When we last saw him in the ring, a 12-round majority decision win in November, he handled another elite fighter in Brandon Figueroa.

For the 31-year-old Roman, the former champion will look to launch one final championship level run with a win here against Fulton. A former WBA and IBF super-bantamweight champ himself, Roman’s most recent run was cut short in January 2020 following a split decision loss to Murodjon Akhmadaliev. Winning two straight since, decisively, one of the biggest fights of Roman’s career is on deck for Saturday as he looks to pick up to never before held belts in the WBC and WBO super bantamweight titles.

Bottom Line

Opening up as a +500 underdog, we’ve seen money flow in on Roman, who is now closer to the +400 neighborhood as fight night approaches in Minnesota. I’m not so sure that’s a warranted move, however.

While neither fighter has much in the way of power, making this one almost certainly destined to go the distance, Fulton can likely be active enough early to win most of the early rounds. Though Roman might get a round or two here in the middle rounds, I like the technical skills of Fulton to win this fight with relative ease.

Pick: Stephen Fulton to Win -750
