Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Los Angeles Rams NFL Sports Betting Guide

After helping to create the media monster that is “Danny Dimes” last week, the 1-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to the west coast to take on the undefeated Los Angeles Rams. With two offenses featuring explosive weapons in the passing game, we should be in for an interesting game in LA this week.

Overview

Coming off a long week and their first win, Tampa Bay collapsed against the Giants last week, allowing rookie Daniel Jones to pass all over them in the comeback. This continues to be the story for this Buccaneers team, defensively. The held the Niners’ runners to 98 yards and a 3.1-yard per carry average. On the short week, Tampa held Christian McCaffrey to 53 total yards, including a 2.3-yard rushing average. Last week, their run defense obviously benefited from Saquon Barkley leaving the game injured, but for the eight carries he totaled while in the game, he ran for just 10 yards. However, the passing defense has been weak, giving up 261.0 passing yards per game to Jimmy Garoppolo, Cam Newton, and Daniel Jones. Offensively, Jameis Winston looked good last week, finding Mike Evans for three touchdowns to get him back into the offense. But with such a good passing offense on the other side in this game, Tampa will need to sure up this secondary.

The Rams are undefeated, but they are certainly not in the same category of undefeated teams like the Chiefs or Patriots. Yes, it’s all about the dub, but the margin of victory for the Rams is just over nine points. However, this team plays better at home, and that starts with their quarterback. Last season, Jared Goff completed eight percent more of his passes at home, averaged 98 more passing yards, and had a 116.7 quarterback rating versus 82.7 on the road. With him playing much better on his home turf, look for Sean McVay and this offense to exploit mismatches with their talented receiving trio of Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks, and Robert Woods, who have combined for 635 yards and three touchdowns through the air this season.

Trends

  • The total has hit the under in seven of Tampa Bay’s last nine games.
  • Tampa Bay is 1-7 straight up in its last eight road games.
  • The Rams are 7-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight games.
  • The total has hit the under in four of the Rams’ last five games.
  • The Rams lead the all-time series with Tampa Bay, 16-8.
  • Last Meeting: September 25, 2016 — The Rams defeated the Buccaneers, 37-32, at Raymond James Stadium.

Prop Bet

All odds taken from FanDuel Sportsbook.

To Score First and Win: Los Angeles Rams (-118)
This bet gives you much more profitable odds than simply betting on the Rams’ moneyline. They have scored first in every game this season. They are a great passing team at home while Tampa struggles with the pass. Tampa’s offensive strength is the pass, but the Rams have held opponents to less than 200 yards passing on average this season. The Rams should come out of the game hot while the Buccaneers may need to figure out their running game just to move the football consistently. There’s a lot to love with this prop bet.

Bottom Line

I mentioned how the margin of victory for the Rams this season is just over nine points, which coincidentally is the spread. However, they have outscored opponents at home by an average of 9.8 points since the start of last season, including the playoffs. Look for them to keep that trend going in this one.

Pick: Los Angeles Rams -9
