The Best Serie A Futures Bets For This Season

After a memorable title race that featured Genoa pushing Juventus for top spot in Serie A until the final couple of weeks of the season, the table now resets with great expectations for the top teams heading into 2019-20. By the time it was all said and done, Juventus cleared Napoli by 11 points at the top of the table last season. Beyond the big two, no team finished within 20 points of Juventus in the standings. Will the outlook at the top change this season? Or will it be a two-horse race once again with Napoli the only legitimate challenger to Juventus’ supremacy? Here is a look at the best Serie A futures bets heading into this season.

Best Bets To Win The League

Odds: Juventus -228 at PointsBet

Juventus is once again the obvious favorite to win the Serie A title. New manager Maurizio Sarri will be responsible for making sure a talented roster — including the league’s headliner Cristiano Ronaldo — reaches its potential in Italy this season.

Miralem Pjanic will be the conductor in Sarri’s midfield and he’ll be joined by a pair of offseason signings in Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey. Holdovers Sami Khedira and Blaise Matuidi are also back.

Juventus will bring back a talented backline that includes Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro, and Joao Cancelo, so we know that their defensive play should be solid once again. While Sarri will tweak Juve’s playing style, the returning pieces and new additions should have no problem handling the transition and making sure that the black and white stay on top of the table.

Best Value Pick To Win The League

Odds: Napoli +600 at PointsBet

With so little parity at the top of the table, it’s hard to identify a third team that can keep up with Juventus and Napoli. Fortunately for those looking for better odds than Juventus has to offer, Napoli is listed at +600 to win the title.

Carlo Ancelotti is still one of the best managers in all of Europe. The addition of Kostas Manolas will solidify Ancelotti’s backline. Meanwhile, Napoli should have more than enough firepower to contend at the top with Dries Mertens, Arkadiusz Milik, and Lorenzo Insigne forming a talented trio upfront. After coming close a year ago, Napoli is primed to challenge Juventus for a league title.

Best Bet To Win The Goal Scoring Title

Odds: Ronaldo +200, Icardi +350, Piatek +400 at PointsBet

For all of the hype about Cristiano Ronaldo’s star power at Juventus, the reality is that his production outlook might be somewhat overrated. After all, three different players scored more goals than Ronaldo in Serie A last season. The one scorer from that group of the top three that stands out the most is Krzysztof Piatek, who is primed to lead the way up front for A.C. Milan this season.

Piatek scored a combined 22 goals for Genoa and Milan last season. Now the 24-year-old enters his prime heading into his first full season with the San Siro club with great expectations. Ronaldo is the big-name favorite. Fabio Quagliarella will also be a popular bet. However, I’ll take a flier on Piatek to win the Serie A goal-scoring title at decent odds this season.

Pick: Piatek +400

First Coach To Be Fired

Ivan Juric will have his hands full at Hellas Verona F.C. There will also be a substantial amount of pressure on Igor Tudor at Udinese. However, if you are looking to place your money on one manager as the first to be sacked in Serie A this season, the smart money might very well be on Vincenzo Montella at Fiorentina.

Fiorentina has been stuck in neutral for a couple of seasons now. While there has been so much focus on how this club is talented enough to take a step forward this upcoming year, the reality is that they don’t appear to be that much improved on paper. The weight of expectations certainly won’t help Montella’s chances of survival. If Fiorentina struggles early, Montella could be fired. Montella is currently listed at +800 odds to be the first Serie A manager sacked this season. That is pretty good odds for a bench boss that we think is the favorite to be the first manager in Italy sacked.
