The Book Report: Volume 10

We start The Book Report with a tip of the cap to Derek Stevens who last night opened the first hotel and casino property in Downtown Las Vegas in over 40 years.

Circa Las Vegas will feature the largest sportsbook in the world, a 3-story monster with the biggest video screen you have ever seen. In addition to the sportsbook being a sports bettor’s dream, Circa will feature Stadium Swim, a year-round heated pool that features a massive video screen that will show the biggest sporting events of the day. Patrons will be able to rent cabanas that will have the audio of the game you have bet on, something that has never been offered before in Las Vegas.

In the middle of a global pandemic, Derek Stevens designed and opened a $1 Billion dollar, adults-only property with the sports gambler in mind. While the rest of the country has begun to legalize sports gambling, Derek Stevens has shown, once again, that Las Vegas will always be an unmatched destination.

BetMGM

Like Tacos?

Mookie Betts of the LA Dodgers stole a base in game 1 of the World Series to give everyone in America a free Doritos Loco Taco from Taco Bell.

BetMGM announced that they had “partnered with Taco Bell to offer fans the chance to wager real money on which player they think will steal the first base of the World Series AND what inning that first stolen base might happen!” Betts’ stolen base gives America a free taco on Wednesday, October 28th either in-store or via the Taco Bell app.

BetMGM on Tuesday announced that they appointed Ryan Spoon Chief Operating Officer. Most recently, Spoon served as Senior Vice President of Social & Digital Content at ESPN. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of Digital Product and Design.

Spoon will report to BetMGM’s CEO Adam Greenblatt, who said in a release, “BetMGM has seen early success in establishing itself as a significant player in the sports betting world through relationships with leagues, teams, and partners. With Ryan’s expertise in developing scaled and engaging digital experiences, BetMGM will leverage those relationships in entirely new ways.”

DraftKings Sportsbook

To celebrate Halloween, the good folks at DraftKings have a unique promotion going for next week with some of the biggest names in competitive eating. No word yet if candy corns will be part of the feast next week but you can win real money by predicting the results.

On Monday Night, Draftkings saw a ton of action on the Bears to win and cover on the road against the Rams. The Chicago offense never got going and in fact, their defense scored more points than their offense did. It was a good night for the book.

And finally, did you suffer a HORRIBLE beat on Saturday when Penn State blew their 8-point lead on the road at Indiana? Well, DK is refunding all the wagers that came in on the Nittany Lions -6 on Saturday.

FanDuel Sportsbook

A few parlay bettors at FanDuel had a good weekend as the book reported 2 winning tickets that cashed for big money.

A $5,857 6-leg parlay ticket on NFL Money Lines and Spreads came in with a payout of $104,172.  The ticket included New Orleans Saints ML, Green Bay Packers ML, Tampa Bay Bucs -4, LA Chargers -7.5, KC Chiefs -7, and the Buffalo Bills ML.

Another player hit on $40 11-leg parlay on college football spreads with payout of $47, 775. The ticket included Louisville -5.5, Coastal Carolina -4.5, Temple 14.5, Army -30.5, North Carolina -15.5, Auburn -3, Ohio State -27.5, UTEP 17.5, Syracuse 46, Oklahoma -6.5, and Kansas State -18.5.

Other Sportsbooks

BetRivers, like most sportsbooks on Sunday, had a rough day with the public staying hot. A whopping 95% of the bets came in on the Chiefs to beat the Broncos outright in the snow and 91% of the tickets laid the 7-point spread. Kansas City won the game 43-16. The public also cashed on the over for the Raiders and Bucs as 78% of the tickets bet that both teams would score more than 51.5 points. The Bucs won 45-20.

Don’t feel too bad for the book as 90% of the tickets came in on the Bills to cover the 10-point spread on the road at the winless Jets. While Buffalo won the game and cashed for the 96% that took them on the moneyline, the Bills won 18-10 and failed to cover the spread.

Did you have the Browns -3.5? Did that missed extra point cost you your bet? Well, the folks at PointsBet are going to refund your wager if you made your bet with them. Nice gesture.
