The Book Report: Volume 9

The Book Report this week takes a look at all the things happening at the legal sportsbooks around the country, including what happened in Week 6 in the NFL but before we do that, we should all take a second to remember where we were back in March.

There was a time when we didn’t think we would finish the NBA or NHL seasons or if the NFL and College Football even starts their seasons. We have been able to enjoy the NBA and Stanley Cup Finals and this week, The World Series will be played in Texas.

We’ve been very fortunate to get to bet on these games and we should appreciate what the leagues have done to entertain us.

BetMGM

If you have used Yahoo for any of your fantasy football leagues or information in the past, Yahoo Sports and BetMGM announced a unique partnership late last week.

They announced “two new features on Yahoo Sportsbook designed to enhance the betting experience powered by BetMGM for users of legal age in eligible states, including streamlining the registration and onboarding experience between the Yahoo Sports app and BetMGM and adding player prop odds to Yahoo Fantasy.”

“At Yahoo Sports, we are continuing to provide new ways for sports fans to go beyond engaging with content and interact in a seamless way with the sports that they love,” said Geoff Reiss, GM of Yahoo Sports in a release. “The new features continue to enhance our fan’s experience and as we continue to reimagine the future of sports.”

In this first of its kind opportunity, Yahoo Sportsbook will also allow Yahoo Fantasy users in eligible states to “start seeing available player prop odds on the players tab and player card within the Yahoo Fantasy app and several locations on the web”. In what will be a major opportunity for gamblers, “users will be able to place corresponding bets on the BetMGM platform”.

Did you get underdogs this weekend? This parlay at BetMGM would have been a nice payout.

DraftKings Sportsbook

The Dodgers got off to a great start on Tuesday night with an 8-3 win over the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series. After Mookie Betts had a tremendous game, the odds for him to win the MVP of the fall classic rose considerably at DraftKings and they added a bonus boost on top of it.

Have you been following the team of Dan Harris and me in the DraftKings Pro Football Pick ‘Em Contest? We do the Betting Pros NFL Podcast each week on our picks. Through 6 weeks, we are 4 games over .500 for the contest. Right now, we are just inside the top 200 but we are only a few picks away from getting into the money. The winner of the contest will win $1 Million Dollars.

FanDuel Sportsbook

The first game on Monday Night Football was expensive for Fanduel as 85% of the money and 83% of the bets were on the Chiefs -5.5 to win against the Bills. Kansas City earned a hard-fought 26-17 victory on the road. However, the book made most of it back as one gambler places at $35,307 wager on the Cowboys -1 in the late game against the Cardinals. Dallas was never in the game and got blown out at home.

Anyone like the Bears to win the Super Bowl? If you do, you might like the odds at Fanduel for that to happen.

Other Sportsbooks

At Sugarhouse in Pennsylvania, A $10,000 wager came in on Steelers -180 ML which was the largest winning bet of the early slate of NFL games, with a payout of $17,050. The Steelers crushed the Browns which cashed for the 72% of the bettors who laid the -3 spread.

Philly loves their Eagles but they like cashing tickets even more. 72% of the bets laid the 8.5 points on the Ravens to beat up on the Eagles on Sunday at BetRivers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Carson Wentz had other ideas as he was able to get his team within 2-points at the end of the game and easily covered the spread.

The sportsbooks around the country can’t wait for the Jets to stop playing football this year. A crazy 94% of the bets laid the 9-points on the Dolphins to beat New York. Miami won 24-0, dropping the Jets to 0-6 against the spread this season.
