The Breeders’ Cup Betting Guide, Odds & Picks (2020)

All is not lost from a ‘victorless’ Triple Crown year — enter the Breeders’ Cup 2020. Dust off your notebooks, rummage for your calculators and keep those pencils sharp. If you aren’t familiar with this two-day event, imagine if the three legs of the Triple Crown were in a single weekend. It is a gathering of the best thoroughbreds, jockeys, and trainers, with the hungriest of fans and the wealthiest of purses. Below you will find six races for Saturday, November 7th, that I have hand-selected with refined angles targeting just the right amount of value in relation to potential. If you followed my prior articles, you know I had Tiz The Law on top of the Belmont, and Tiz The Law & Authentic as my two highest-rated horses in the Kentucky Derby. On Saturday, you and I will look to keep that hot streak alive as no information is withheld. Annnnnddd they’re off!

Betting Overview

I have separated each field into The Winners & The Contenders. This does not mean that The Contenders can’t win, as seen by the recommended tickets, or that The Winners won’t lose. These groupings are built based on a decade of past performance analysis with an emphasis on per-race engagement levels (competitiveness), pace ceilings, and the under-asked question of “what have you done for me lately?”. The Winners are the horses “to beat” where variable changes such as weather, illness, a gate stumble, or poor preparations could propel some of their competitors named “The Contenders” to a lucrative advantage. I have provided Post Positions, Odds, and some recommended tickets to maximize your gains — just be sure to consider at least all of these horses in your exotics if you decide to rearrange your tickets.

Keep an eye on the initial Twitter post by @FantasyPros or my account @WestonPicks before each post time, as scratches can dramatically impact the flow of a race. It’s possible that selections may not change, but some horses demand competition of their opponents with an elevated early pace, key post position, or bursting speed in the stretch which if removed create a vacuum of outcomes. Bet early as lines or servers lag leading up to most big races, and most importantly — bet informed! I’ll see you on the other side of the finish line.
