It is a season-long tournament that spans all 18 weeks of the regular season and continues on throughout the postseason. There is a wide variety of betting options in this tournament, unlike some others that just focus on spreads or game totals. You can bet on spreads, totals, moneylines, player props, parlays, and SGP's (same game parlays). The Sharps: Where Sports Betting Meets Poker

What is it

As alluded to above, the Sharps Invitational is a season-long NFL bankroll handicapping tournament. You start with 1,000-10,000 chips (depending on your tier) and can place up to 2,500 chips in bets per week. The weekly bet limit is 25% of your active bankroll. This cap is meant to prevent players from losing their entire bankroll in Week 1 and also rewards a disciplined approach. 

Tiers

There are three tiers, or entry points. There is a $110 buy-in pool (Bronze), a $550 buy-in pool (Silver), and a $1,100 buy-in pool (Gold). The $110 tournament has a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool. The $550 tournament has a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. And finally, the $1,100 tournament has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Those in the Bronze tier will get 1,000 chips and will only compete against other Bronze bettors. The Silver tier will get 5,000 chips and will only compete against others in the Silver tier. The Gold tier will get 10,000 chips and only compete against other handicappers in the Gold tier. 

Top 20% Get Paid 

The top 20 percent in each tier will get paid. This means the top 20% from the Bronze tier win cash, the top 20% in the Silver tier get paid, and the top 20% in the Gold tier cash in. 

Rebuys

Unlimited rebuys until Week 8. Rebuys allow players who fall to 500 chips or below to rebuy a chip stack. Handicappers have unlimited rebuys from Week 1 to Week 8. The rebuy window closes permanently at the conclusion of Week 8. 

Add Ons

In addition to rebuys, there is also a more strategic chip addition avenue called Add Ons. While Rebuys are essentially only open to those who do poorly enough to fall to 500 chips, Add Ons are open to everyone. There are two Add On windows: Week 4 and Week 8. These windows allow you to add either 25% or 50% of your starting bankroll for 25% or 50% of your initial entry fee. So for Gold Tier players who start with 10,000 chips, this means 2,500 or 5,000 chips for $275 or $550, respectively. For those in the Bronze tier, this means $27.50 and $55 for 250 and 500 chips, respectively. 

Limits and Caps 

From Week 1 to Week 10, players are allowed to place maximum weekly total wagers of 25 percent of their starting/current bankroll (that week). For the Gold tier, this would be 2,500 chips for Week 1. If a player doubles their bankroll from 10,000 to 20,000 by Week 2, they can now bet up to 5,000.

• Week 1-10: 25% of current bankroll
• Week 10-17: 50% of current bankroll
• Week 18-Super Bowl: 100% of current bankroll

There are two other limits/caps to be aware of: the maximum bet and the maximum parlay/combo. The maximum bet is 10,000 chips per play, regardless of total current bankroll (i.e., if you have a 100,000 chip bankroll, you will not be permitted to play 25% or 25,000 chips; you will be restricted to 10,000). The maximum parlay or combo odds allowed to be offered is +5000. 

Elimination 

Players are eliminated if their bankroll hits zero following the conclusion of Week 8. 

Active Bankroll

You can only bet what is in your bankroll. This will not matter for Week 1, as there is a weekly cap, but if your roll starts to dwindle, you need to be aware that once a bet is locked, so is that portion of your bankroll until the wager is settled.
