Top 3 MLB Betting Plays for Friday, September 11

Going 1-1 with a rainout leaves you feeling a bit … empty, you know? But with a 4-1 record through the past two days, you’re doing pretty well if you’ve been using my recommendations. Now, let’s keep the run going!

Here are my top MLB betting plays for Friday (Odds courtesy FanDuel Sportsbook):

NY Yankees -1.5 (-104)

Gerrit Cole allowed five runs on four hits over six innings in his previous start against the Orioles on Sept. 5, but four of those runs were unearned. The Baltimore offense is humming, which builds some risk into this pick, but Cole is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball – and the Yankees’ lineup is no slouch, especially vs. Orioles starter Alex Cobb (six home runs allowed in 75 at-bats to members of the New York roster).

Blake Snell Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-134)

This one’s all about whether the Rays will let Snell pitch long enough to get to the 7-K plateau. Snell has already thrown a gem against the Red Sox, scattering four hits over five scoreless innings with six strikeouts back on Aug. 12. But there’s the rub: Snell has pitched into the sixth inning in just one of his eight appearances in 2020, which is why he has exceeded 6.5 strikeouts just twice. Seven Ks in 5+ innings is a lot to ask – even from one of the league’s top pitchers.

Cleveland ML (-108)

Are you prepared to bet against Shane Bieber? I’m sure not. Bieber has been far and away the top pitcher in baseball to this point, boasting a minuscule 1.25 ERA with an incredible 94 strikeouts over 57 2/3 innings. He has already faced the Twins twice this season, limiting them to two runs on seven hits with 23 punch-outs over 14 innings. The Twins’ solid lineup and a matchup with Minnesota starter Kenta Maeda makes the odds on this game worth snagging.
