Friday's Best MLB Picks & Predictions

Last Time: 2-1 | This Season: 14-13

Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets

It hasn't been the best start to the year for either of these teams, which are sitting at the bottom of the NL East. Neither team ranks in the top half of the league in run production, and I don't imagine anything different tonight. Max Meyer gets the start for Miami, and he's been awesome of late, spinning a 1.76 ERA over his last five starts while limiting opponents to a .517 OPS. Freddy Peralta has also been solid recently, going 2-4 but owning a 3.20 ERA while limiting opponents to a .213 batting average. When you look at the bullpens, neither really concerns me about blowing up. Both pens rank in the top-12 with sub-3.00 ERA's over the last month of play. It's not like it's already a high total, but I'm still going Under.

Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-115 at BetMGM)

New York Yankees vs. Athletics

Out west tonight, the Yankees take on the Athletics, and it looks like New York is in line to win their fifth straight game. Luis Severino takes the bump for the A's, and he's struggled early in games so far this year with a 7.36 first-inning ERA, a 5.73 second-inning ERA and a 4.09 ERA in the third inning across his 11 starts. I expect the Yankees to pounce early as they've scored the fourth most runs in baseball across the last month of play. Carlos Rodon makes his third start of the year after a solid 2025 season, and he's limiting opponents to a .178 batting average in his 13.0 IP so far in 2026. Pitching late into games is a question for Rodon, which is why I'm going to go out on a limb here for a plus-odds bet that the Yankees get out to an early lead and hold it.

Pick: Yankees -1.5 Runs F5 (+160 at BetRivers)

Kansas City Royals at Texas Rangers

Finally tonight, I'm taking a player prop as the Rangers host the Royals. Mackenzie Gore takes the bump for Texas, and he's been solid with over 10 strikeouts/nine innings this year, holding opponents to a .206 batting average. His advanced metrics are solid too, ranking in the 77th percentile in strikeout rate while covering his strikeout prop in three of four home games so far this year. Kansas City's offense hasn't been great, and against southpaws, they get even worse. Their whiff rate is middle of the pack, but in Texas, Gore gets an additional bump. Take whatever prop you would like here, but I'm riding his strikeouts.

Pick: Mackenzie Gore Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-106 at bet365)
