Top 3 MLB Picks & Predictions: Sunday (6/14)

The weekend wraps up today with a busy afternoon in Major League Baseball. But all games are not created equal, meaning some games/markets can easily qualify for our best MLB picks card, and some cannot.

I'm not saying my list is perfect or locks (because there is no such thing), but these are my MLB best bets for Sunday, June 14th.

Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions

    (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

    Colorado Rockies vs. Athletics

With all the offense generated at Las Vegas Ballpark, I can understand why the total is so high for this game. But both prior games finished under this mark (10 and 12). Both lineups have been hitting well, and the pitching matchup is unimpressive. But neither Tomoyuki Sugano nor Jeffrey Springs is bad.

Look for this to be another high-scoring game, but don't count on it breaking the 14-run barrier.

    Pick: Under 14.0 Runs (-115)

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Angels

Tampa Bay has been hitting the ball well lately (.272 over the last week). They haven't been scoring much (17 runs). They lost 4-3 as the road team on Friday, and were beaten 8-0 yesterday. However, they are the betting favorite in the series finale.

Angels starter Grayson Rodriguez is 2-2 with an 8.10 ERA in four starts. But the Rays are going with a bullpen day. Their bullpen has a 4.74 ERA and a .250 opponents’ batting average. With the Angels hitting .294 over the last week, that's a bullpen they can take advantage of.

At +100 on the Moneyline, taking the Angels to win outright is a solid value play

    Pick: Angels Moneyline (+100)

Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox

The line on this one is a bit perplexing. Boston has won the last two games, 10-1 and 6-3. The Red Sox are not hitting as well as Texas (.239 vs. .266). But, they have been doing more with the offense they do generate, scoring 25 runs over the last five games, while Texas has managed 17.

Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi can be solid when he has a good day. However, it's hard to know when those days will happen. Boston starter Connelly Early has been the better of the two this season:

    • Early: 5-4, 3.30 ERA, 1.23 WHIP
    • Eovaldi: 5-7, 4.46 ERA, 1.18 WHIP

The Red Sox Moneyline is priced at -116. But in case there's something I'm missing that justifies making Texas the favorite, I'm taking Boston on the run line, even at this lackluster price.

    Pick: Boston +1.5 (-178)
