Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Baltimore Orioles vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

There is good reason to be concerned about Baltimore’s lineup since it has hit just .204 and scored 16 runs over the last week in six games. The Dodgers haven't been lighting up the scoreboard, but they have been hitting better (.233 with 22 runs scored over the last week).

But the pitching matchup is reason enough to bet on the Orioles to win. Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan (3-4, 4.76 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) has given up multiple runs in 10 of his 12 starts this season. Brandon Young (5-2, 3.18 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) has allowed three runs in three of his five road starts, but has been the better pitcher between the two this season.

There is always a level of risk when you bet against the Dodgers, but at +188, this is a solid value play.

    Pick: Orioles Moneyline (+188)

Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners

Boston has owned this series, winning 6-2 on Friday and 5-1 yesterday. Over the last week, the Mariners have hit a league-low .154, scoring 13 runs across their last six games. I wouldn't expect the Seattle lineup to wake up against Payton Tolle (3-4, 2.93 ERA, 1.06 WHIP).

However, Seattle starter Logan Gilbert (5-4, 3.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) will not let the Boston lineup get too out of hand (.226 over the last week with 19 runs scored across six games). This makes the under a solid play, too. But Gilbert has had some issues pitching at home (4-3 in nine starts with a 5.02 ERA)

But since you can't count on either lineup to produce, I'm going with the Red Sox Moneyline, as they face a Mariners team sporting the lowest batting average in baseball over the last week.

    Pick: Red Sox Moneyline (+118)

New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia has been hitting .267 with 38 runs scored in six games, while the Mets have been hitting .282, but with 29 runs scored over their last six games. Yesterday, we saw Kyle Schwarber hit three home runs and Bryce Harper hit a cycle.

Zack Wheeler (6-1 with a 2.01 ERA and 0.85 WHIP) will keep the Mets’ lineup somewhat contained. But I wouldn't count on David Peterson (3-5, 5.91 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) to do the same to the Phillies’ lineup.

Don't expect another day like yesterday, but the Phillies’ lineup will do enough for the team to win by at least two runs.

    Pick: Phillies -1.5 (+105)
