Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Miami Marlins vs. Athletics
Gage Jump (3-2, 2.93 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) has done a solid job for the A's. However, he did get lit up in his last start against the Dodgers, allowing 11 hits, two home runs and five earned runs in 4.2 innings.
Eury Perez had a rough go of it in May before spending some time on the injured list (IL), but he has been lights-out since his return, allowing five hits and two runs across 10 innings in two starts.
Miami's lineup has accounted for 19 runs over the last two games. Jump might slow them down a little, but don't count on him to do so enough to get the win. Perez may not throw well enough to cover the run line, but he'll get the Marlins the win.
Pick: Marlins Moneyline (+106)
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners
Toronto's Trey Yesavage is having a solid season (4-3, 3.34 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) but is doing some of his best work on the road (2.22 ERA and a .177 opponents’ batting average in five road starts). Emerson Hancock is having just as good a season for the Mariners (5-4, 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP).
Taking Seattle may look like a good idea after watching the Mariners blow up for 11 runs on Saturday. But when you consider they were shut out the day before and scored one run in the series finale against the Angels, not so much. Yesavage will not let them get out of hand today.
Toronto's lineup has been hitting .187 over the last week, with 15 runs scored across six games. Hancock should take care of business against them, resulting in a low-scoring game.
Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-120)
Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels
Boston has not been doing a great job at the plate over the last week - a .232 batting average and over four runs per game. They scored five and eight runs in wins over the Angels on Friday and Saturday and should continue that success against Angels starter Ryan Johnson (1-3, 7.40 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) today.
But even if the Red Sox lineup goes quiet, Boston will be in good shape with Ranger Suarez (4-3, 2.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) on the mound. He should have no trouble keeping an Angels lineup that has been hitting .187 over the last week in check.
Pick: Red Sox -1.5 (+106)
