Sunday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tyler Anderson Over 17.5 Outs (-125)

Tyler Anderson has established himself as a reliable innings-eater, racking up 175+ innings in two of the last three seasons. We’re seeing more of the same so far this year, with the veteran lefty going six or more innings in four consecutive outings.

This is a great matchup against the Orioles, who have been horrendous against lefties this season, putting up a 49 wRC+, which ranks 30th in the league.

With Anderson’s track record of pitching deep into games combined with Baltimore’s challenges against southpaws, we’re likely to see the Angels’ lefty get to six innings, at least, in this spot. You also have to love that you’re getting a reasonable price of (-125) odds here.

Tony Gonsolin Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-140)

Tony Gonsolin has put up nine and eight strikeouts in his first two starts of the season, but each of those outings came against the Marlins, who rank 28th in strikeout rate versus righties.

This is a much tougher matchup against the Diamondbacks. Arizona is 13th in strikeout rate against righties and first in strikeout rate at home. We’ve seen Yoshinobu Yamamoto (five innings, four strikeouts) have a tough time striking out these Diamondbacks in this series.

While we’re paying some juice at (-140) odds, it’s telling that we’ve got a low bar (4.5 strikeouts) at an expensive price on a pitcher who has eight strikeouts in each of his two outings. That’s how tough of a matchup this is. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Gonsolin get three strikeouts or fewer.

Nick Pivetta Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-140)

Nick Pivetta has been phenomenal for the Padres, putting up a 28.4% strikeout rate in 40.1 innings. While the veteran righty has recorded seven or more strikeouts in only two of his seven starts. This is a good spot to get there once again.

When Pivetta faced the Rockies earlier this season, he racked up 10 strikeouts in seven innings. Granted, that was at Petco Park (pitcher-friendly) and this is at Coors Field (hitter-friendly), the Rockies are still striking out at a high clip in the thin air.

Colorado ranks second-last in strikeout rate at home this season. This team looks like one of the worst we’ve ever seen, so we’ll ride with Pivetta to get to seven or more strikeouts in this spot.
