Sunday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Reese Olson Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-135)
Reese Olson has registered a 23.4% strikeout rate and a 13.2% swinging-strike rate in 33 innings this season. We’ve seen the Tigers righty perform well lately, racking up seven strikeouts in each of his last two games.
One of these matchups came versus the Padres, who have the lowest strikeout rate against righties this year. Today, Olson is in a smash spot versus the Angels. Los Angeles has the highest strikeout rate against righties this season.
We’ve seen teammates Tarik Skubal and Jack Flaherty each get eight strikeouts against the Angels during this series. All we need is six from Olson in this spot, so I’m willing to pay a bit of juice with the (-135) price at DraftKings Sportsbook. Don’t be surprised if Olson soars over this number.
Nick Martinez Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-115)
Nick Martinez has put up a 19% strikeout rate and 9.7% swinging-strike rate in 32.2 innings this season. This is a righty who has failed to get to five or more strikeouts in four of his last five outings.
It’s a tough matchup for strikeouts against the Nationals, who have put up a 20.8 strikeout rate versus right-handers, which ranks 11th in the league. We’ve seen pitchers like Brandon Pfaadt, Corbin Burnes and Dustin May struggle to get strikeouts against this lineup.
We’re getting an appealing price at (-115) odds on a pitcher who has consistently gone under 4.5 strikeouts in recent games and has a tough matchup. Take advantage of these favorable odds by fading Martinez against the Nationals today.
Logan Evans Under 1.5 Walks (-115)
Logan Evans issued three walks in his MLB debut, but this is a pitcher who has shown strong command throughout the Minors, including a 3.7% walk rate in 25.2 innings at Triple-A this season.
This is a good matchup versus an ice-cold Rangers offense that has a 7.4% walk rate (22nd) and 82 wRC+ (27th) in the last 14 days. We could see Evans turn in a quality outing in this spot.
I love that we’re getting (-115) odds on a pitcher who has elite control. It seems that the market is putting too much stock in Evans’ three-walk debut. I’ll be targeting Evans’ under on walks props until the books adjust.
