Top 3 NBA Betting Picks for Thursday, October 21st (2021)

The 2021-22 NBA season is off and running as the final few times start their season tonight across the league. With three games on deck, let’s look at each of them and see where the value remains as tip-off approaches.

1. Hawks -2.5 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

Forever connected from the 2018 draft, Luka Doncic and the Mavs travel to take on Trae Young in the Hawks in Atlanta tonight. Coming in off a season where they won their division for the first time in over ten years, the Mavs will debut Jason Kidd as their first new coach in 14 seasons, who supposedly will have more control over the hot-tempered Doncic.

For the Hawks, a fully healthy Young is back along with the frontcourt of John Collins and center Clint Capela.

The difference in this one, and I expect for the season, is the return of Bodan Bogdanovich, who returns from a knee injury and is a vital piece of the Hawks rotation

2. Heat -1.5 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

With a fully healthy Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo coming into the season, the Heat are genuine contenders in the east and feel like it. In addition, newly added Kyle Lowry makes them three-dimensional now and brings in a true #1 point guard they’ve lacked for years.

For the Bucks, Grayson Allen is the only new addition, and he’s already found his way into the starting lineup to start the season.

The difference is that the newly acquired PJ Tucker and Markeiff Morris make it difficult for this team to push off the block and add an edge they haven’t had in years. With revenge from last year fresh on their mind, look for the Heat to push in this one early.

 3. Warriors -3.5 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

If it wasn’t evident in their opener on Tuesday, the Warriors are back this season with a vengeance. With a mostly healthy squad, Klay Thompson is also reportedly on his way back, and the bench is even deeper as well, outscoring the Laker’s on Tuesday 55-29.

For the Clippers, they’ll be forced to start the season without star Kawhi Leonard as he recovers from an ACL surgery, as well as Serge Ibaka, who had back surgery this summer.

In this one, I look for the Warriors to make another statement like they did Tuesday to put the West on notice once again.
