Top 3 NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, December 8th (2021)

After a quiet Tuesday night in the Association that saw just three games played, we return tonight with a jam-packed slate featuring 26 teams in action. With the two national TV games being Heat/Bucks and Trail Blazers/Warriors, let’s take a closer look at the board and find some value in the noise.

1. Cavaliers -3 -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

The days of this Cavaliers team flying under the betting public’s radar are now over, as they come into this one as favorites for just the second time in their last 11 games. While their offense has been decent, a large part of their success has come on the defensive end as they’re #2 in the league in holding opponents to just 102.4 points per game.

For the visiting Bulls, a strong start can be credited to getting production on both sides of the ball ranking inside the top 10 in both points per game (109.6) and points allowed per game (104.8). They now, however, must carry on without Alex Caruso (hamstring) and DeMar DeRozan (illness) while the Cavs continue to get increasingly healthy.

2. Mavericks +4.5|  -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

The Mavs and Grizz met just four days ago, with the Grizzlies winning 97-90 as 1-point favorites. In what was the second of a three-game slide for the Mavs, their offensive woes plagued them once again as they went just 31 of 92 from the field.

For the Grizzlies, who are on a five-game winning streak (covered all five), life without Ja Morant has gone much better than expected thus far. In this one, however, I like for All-Star Luka Doncic to take this one over and get his team back on track tonight in Memphis in what could be a much-needed night away from home.

 3. Nets/Rockets Under 225 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

After a horrendous start that had many questioning the intentions of this Rockets team, their young nucleus has responded in spades. Starting on November 24th, the team has now won six straight and increased their scoring average to 105.2 points per game.

For the Nets, winners of seven of their last 10, their consistency has improved in large part from their defensive effort. Heading into tonight, they’re allowing opponents a FG% of just 42.8% (#2) and a 3PT% of just 30.3% (#1). I like a concerted effort on the defensive end in this one that stops the Rockets in their tracks and helps this one stay under the posted total.
