Top 3 NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, September 9

The top two teams in terms of postseason ATS record might be squaring off in the Eastern Conference final, depending on how things play out Wednesday night.

The Boston Celtics (7-2 ATS) own a 3-2 series lead over the defending-champion Toronto Raptors with Game 6 set for Wednesday night in the Orlando bubble. A Celtics victory would move them into the conference final against the Miami Heat (8-1 ATS), who knocked off the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in five games.

Here are my top NBA betting plays for Wednesday (Odds courtesy FanDuel Sportsbook):

Toronto-Boston Under 210.5 (-110)

This is how you make money on NBA betting: find a hook that the sportsbooks don’t adjust to quickly enough, and ride it until it bucks you. That hook, in this series, is the Under, which is a perfect 5-0 heading into an elimination game for the Raptors. The total for Game 6 is 210.5 – the lowest so far – but these teams haven’t even reached that plateau once in the first five games. And with the last two averaging just 196.5 points, we’re going back to the Under here.

Pascal Siakam Under 20.5 Points (-112)

One of the big reasons for the Raptors’ struggles, particularly on the offensive end, is how the Celtics have masterfully defended Pascal Siakam. The all-star forward is averaging a pedestrian 15.8 points through five games – more than seven points below his regular-season average – and is shooting a downright putrid 15.4 percent from 3-point range on 5.2 attempts per game. Boston has made him a focal point on defense, and will continue to do so Wednesday.

Nuggets +8 (-110)

It’s rare these days to see a team win based on its mid-range game – but that’s what the Clippers accomplished in their 113-107 victory over the Nuggets in Game 3. L.A. shot below 36 percent from deep and was outscored soundly in the paint, but hit on nearly 55 percent of their total attempts – and still won by just six. Denver is better than the books are giving them credit for, and I’m expecting this game to be tightly contested throughout.
