Betting the GIFT (Goal In First Ten) is simple. Pick whether or not a game will have a goal scored in the first 10 minutes of play (00:00-09:59). It's that easy and all you have to do is root for anyone to score and you win. It is one area of hockey betting that has a nearly league-wide positive success rate with 90% of the league currently cashing at 50% or better this season. Ottawa Senators at Calgary Flames
It finally happened. The wheels fell off. Ottawa’s perfect 14-0 road GIFT streak came to an end against the Edmonton Oilers of all teams. It also marked the first time the Senators’ have tallied a scoreless opening frame on the road this season. The signs of the streak sputtering were there as the 14th and most recent cash took up until the 9:50 mark to cash, leaving just nine seconds to spare. All good things must come to an end. However, the Sens are still on the road in Calgary so let’s get back on the horse. The Senators' games have still cashed this prop in 25-of-35 games this season overall, a 73% clip that leads the NHL. Their GIFT cash rate away from Canadian Tire Centre is still at 93%, a full 11% higher than 2nd place Carolina. Ottawa’s games have cashed the GIFT in five of their last six and 12 of 14 overall.
Calgary’s 67% (27-for-40) season GIFT strike rate is tied for fifth-best in the league. The Flames have cashed this prop in 64% of their home games with Scotiabank Saddledome GIFTs cashing in 11-of-17 chances. The Flames have cashed the GIFT in seven of their last ten games overall.
Pick: Goal In First Ten (-175)
Edmonton Oilers at Chicago Blackhawks
The Oilers have cashed GIFTs at a 63% clip (23-for-36) this season, good for 12th in the NHL. They have also delivered GIFTs on the road, cashing at a 66% rate away from Rogers Place. Edmonton’s 23 GIFTs this season is second in the NHL behind only the Lightning (28). The Canucks have cashed in four of their last five and seven of their last ten games overall, including four of their last five on the road.
The Blackhawks have cashed this prop in 67% of their games this season, tied for the fifth-highest rate in the league. United Center GIFTs have cashed at a similar 66% rate this season and accounted for 12 of their 27 GIFTs. The Blackhawks have also cashed this prop eight of their last 13 games overall.
After opening at -180, this game is currently at -190 and creeping up towards -200, which is territory that had been saved for when Ottawa was ensconced in their 14-game road GIFT streak, Vegas knows…She knows.

Vancouver Canucks at New York Islanders
The Canucks have cashed GIFTs at a 70% clip (28-for-40) this season, tied for 3rd in the NHL. They have also delivered GIFTs on the road, cashing at a 66% rate away from Rogers Arena (not to be confused with the aforementioned Rogers Place in Edmonton). Vancouver’s 28 GIFTs this season are tied for second in the NHL behind only the Lightning (29). The Canucks have cashed in three of their last five and six of their last ten games overall, including three of their last four on the road.
The Islanders have cashed GIFTs at a 53% clip (21-for-39) this season which ranks 24th in the NHL. However, they have been one of the hotter GIFT cashing teams recently, having cashed in four of their last five and six of ten overall.
