Top 3 Olympic Betting Picks for Sunday, August 1st (2021)

Welcome back to another article spotlighting the Olympic games. Obviously, it has been an Olympics unlike any other, but there are still bets to be had, and that means I am here to break down the best options. As a quick tip, don’t think you have to know everything about a sport or athlete to wager on them. Now, this isn’t me saying go wager randomly on equestrian, but know that there is a lot of information out there to learn from, especially on the BettingPros website. Furthermore, with the number of new sports to bet on, there is ridiculous value in some books based on how new the sport is and a lack of full understanding of where the true odds lie. So be sure to shop around because the value is there. You just have to find it. With that being said, here are my three picks for some Sunday Olympic action.

USA Women’s Olympic Basketball (-13.5) vs. France (BetRivers Illinois)

For both teams’ third game of the Olympics in Group B, France and the United States square off in what should be an exciting match. The United States sits at 2-0 with wins over Japan and Nigeria, while France sits at 1-1, defeating Nigeria but falling to Japan. Historically speaking, the United States Olympic teams have improved their play as the games go on due to increased chemistry and rapport. We saw the USA women beat Nigeria, but then seriously bring their a-game against Japan. Now, they’re running on all cylinders, it seems. The depth and reinforcements in their frontcourt should still be too much for the talented backcourt France has to offer. I see the Americans cruising in this one.

USA Women’s Olympic Volleyball ML -110 vs. Italy (BetRivers Illinois)

Team USA has posted outstanding numbers of late, taking down China and Argentina both 3-0. While Italy has controlled the historical matchup against America, the United States is on a roll right now, playing at their best level. Not only that but the last time these two teams clashed, the USA won 3-1. I see the odds here more as a toss-up, and with Italy slightly favored at -120, I’ll happily choose the USA women.

Men’s Sport Climbing – Tomoa Narasaki +125 (DraftKings)

While climbing doesn’t actually start until early Tuesday morning, I would recommend placing your wager now because +125 is primo odds compared to other offerings such as -110 on BetRivers. Adam Ondra (+225 on DK) is the more popular climber, but it makes complete sense why Narasaki is favored. You can get both Ondra and Narasaki at plus money, and it almost seems like free money. I would be shocked if neither end up winning gold. I will cover them more in my sport climbing preview, so make sure to check that out. But the closer we get to the event, the worse the odds will be, so I’d advise placing your bets now.
