Top 5 MLB Player Prop Bets Odds & Picks for Friday, August 19 (2022)

We have a massive slate on our hands and a myriad of player props to sort through. However, I’m here to save you a lot of time and make you some money. Below you’ll find my top five player props of the evening. So let’s get this weekend started off right and cash some props.

Lance Lynn Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-130)
Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians 7:10 pm ET

I get that Cleveland is not a team that strikes out very much, but this total is far too low for Lance Lynn. He’s faced the Guardians twice this season, and in one outing, he struck out six, then in another, he only had three, but those three came in a start where he got rocked and only lasted four innings. Since that is unlikely to happen again, he should have the opportunity to go over this total. Lynn has had five or more strikeouts in nine of his twelve starts this season. That gives us implied odds of -300 that he’ll go over again.

Patrick Sandoval Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-122)
Los Angeles Angles vs. Detroit Tigers 7:10 pm ET

Patrick Sandoval is one of the most underrated starters in the majors. He holds a 3.42 ERA for the season and has punched out 106 batters in 100 innings of work. Tonight he gets to face the Tigers, who have the fourth highest strikeout rate in the majors. Sandoval has gone over this total in nine of his nineteen outings this season. So with the matchup added into the probability that is just under a coin flip, this line is priced well, but Sandoval should go over it.

Carlos Correa Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)
Texas Rangers vs. Minnesota Twins 8:10 pm ET

Carlos Correa has excellent numbers against Martin Perez. In 26 at-bats, he’s hitting .346 with two homers. On top of that, Correa will have the matchup advantage against Perez, who is left-handed. Correa has hit lefties well this year as he enters this matchup with a .289 average against them on the year. Of his 28 hits of lefties this season, 11 of them have been for extra bases. So with the history and his exceptional splits, Correa should do damage tonight.

Alex Wood Over 3.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+105)
San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies 8:40 pm ET

The Rockies should be salivating about their matchup tonight. First, they get to face a lefty in Alex Wood, who has struggled to allow righties to hit .270 off him this year and has a 3.92 FIP against them. Colorado also happens to lead the majors in batting average and wRC against lefties. Lastly, this is taking place at  Coors Field, where the Rockies are substantially better this season. So Wood may be due for some positive regression, but don’t expect it to come tonight.

Chad Pinder Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)
Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland A’s 9:40 pm ET

Pinder has hit lefties exceptionally well over the course of his career as he has a .772 OPS and .195 ISO against them. Tonight he should get the majority of his at-bat against lefty Marco Gonzales. Gonzales is due to get lit up as he has a 5.11 FIPO on the year and has allowed righties to hit .280 off him this year. So back Pinder to put one in the gap tonight.
