Top MLB Parlay Odds & Picks for Friday April 22nd (2022)

We’re back looking for another winning parlay.

(Odds courtesy DraftKings)

Colorado Rockies (+125) vs. Detroit Tigers (-145) O/U 8 (First Pitch 7:10 p.m.)

Detroit has struggled in what was supposed to be a promising year due to some offseason acquisitions. Austin Meadows being one of them, has played well to start the season, hitting .313, along with Miguel Cabrera, who’s hitting .333 and is just one hit shy of the illustrious 3,000 hits. Besides them, only Harold Castro is hitting over .200 as they are 27th in runs scored (3.0).

Tarik Skubal will go for the Tigers and hopes to continue his momentum from his last start. He went 5.2 shutout innings allowing just four hits and struck out seven in the no-decision against the Royals. He was in a groove that game and was getting ahead in the count early, allowing him to change speed and get the hitters off balance. The Rockies are continuing to exceed expectations this season. Many believed they were destined for the bottom of the NL West, but at 8-4, they are a game behind the Dodgers. Fans have a reason to be excited about how well this team is playing.

Today’s game will be tough to favor them because of historically how they play in these situations. Colorado has not played well in recent history in their first road game after a home series — in 2021, they were 3-10 in the first game of the road stand and were outscored 29-68. This is because of how they see the ball going from the higher elevation of Denver to the lower elevation.

You should take the Tigers today because of science and how well Skubal looked in his last start.

Leg 1: Tigers ML

St. Louis Cardinals (-125) vs. Cincinnati Reds (+105) O/U 9 (First Pitch 6:40 p.m.)

The Cardinals are on top of the competitive NL Central, but it will be a tight race like last year. They’re coming off a good road trip going 4-3 and will turn around on no rest to start a series against the Reds.

Steven Matz will be on the mound, and his struggles continue after an unsuccessful one-year stint in Tampa Bay. In two starts, he’s 1-1 with a 7.27 ERA and 1.500 WHIP.

The Reds needed a day off coming into this game. They’re currently on a nine-game losing streak, having lost eight by three runs or more.

Cincinnati’s top prospect Hunter Green will get his third start of the season, but his professional career has not started well. Greene is 1-1 with a 4.36 ERA, and while he has electric stuff, including 100 MPH, he hasn’t put it all together yet for an effective outing.

While St. Louis is the better team by a mile, they have the disadvantage of no rest, starting a pitcher who’s immensely struggling, and facing a pitcher none of them have seen.

Leg 2: Reds +1.5

New York Mets (-130) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (+110) O/U 8.5

We get an early non-divisional rematch as the Mets hosted the Diamondbacks last week. New York won two of three in that series and outscored Arizona 17-6.

David Peterson will go for the Mets, who was one of the pitchers in that last series. He 4.1 shutout innings allowing three hits, struck out four and walked two in the no-decision.

The hitting woes are evident for the Diamondbacks as they’ve struggled at the plate this season. Aside from the 11-run showing on Wednesday against the Nationals, they’ve scored over four runs in just one game this season.

Zac Gallen makes his second start of the season, the first one being against the Mets. He went four shutout innings in that game and allowed just two hits.

Both these teams are making a long trip across the country and playing with no day off. This season, both starters have already had a dominating start against these teams, so a low-scoring game is your best bet.

Leg 3: Under 8.5
