Top MLB Parlay Odds Picks for Friday May 27 (2022)

We have three divisional matchups to start your holiday weekend. A couple of these games have these teams very close in the standings, including one between the first and second place teams.

Cleveland Guardians (-164) vs. Detroit Tigers (+138) ) O/U 7

(First Pitch 7:11 p.m. ET)

We have a rematch of the game on May 22, as it will be Shane Bieber vs. Alex Faedo on the mound in this divisional matchup.

Shane Bieber continues to be one of the best pitchers in the league. He had one bad outing against the Blue Jays a couple of weeks back, but other than that, he’s allowed three or fewer runs in his other seven starts. He’s coming off a quality start against the Tigers last week where he went seven innings, allowing three runs and two earned and striking out ten.

The Tigers brought in some big bats in the offseason, but it has not worked out so far. Javier Biaz is currently hitting just .201 and Austin Meadows, who is on the IL, struggled in his last eight games, hitting just .179. Collectively this offense is not doing well as they’re last in home runs (25), slugging percentage (.319), and hard-hit percentage (34.1).

The pitching has done well, including Alex Faedo, who was slightly better than Bieber last week and gave up just two runs and earned the win.

Faedo has yet to pitch out of the sixth inning, and that’s because the Tigers have the second-best bullpen ERA this season (2.84). Bieber also doesn’t need to stretch out a start because, at 3.27, his bullpen is just as good.

This game is a toss-up, but the pitcher will keep the runs low.

Leg 1: Under 7

Milwaukee Brewers (-154) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (+130)

(First Pitch 8:16 p.m. ET)

Bradon Woodruff has been up and down throughout the season, but he’s strung together two excellent starts and will come in having won three of his last four starts. He already has one start this season against the Cardinals when he pitched five shutout innings and allowed three hits. The Cardinals’ lineup, aside from Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado, has not been that good, so they may struggle again.

While some of the overall numbers for Dakota Hudson are good, he continues to have control problems. He’s allowing 4.3 walks per nine, which could be a problem against this Brewers lineup. This season the Brewers are tenth in walks (151), fourth in chase percentage (25.4), and third in swing percentage (45). Hudson went just three innings in his last start against Milwaukee and allowed two walks.

The Brewers’ ability to work the count against a pitcher that can struggle to find the plate will be the determining factor in getting them the win.

Leg 2: Brewers ML

Houston Astros (-205) vs. Seattle Mariners (+172) O/U 7.5

(First Pitch (9:41 p.m. ET)

At 39 years old, Justin Verlander continues to seem ageless, and after missing almost two years due to Tommy John, he’s looking better than ever. He already had a start against the Mariners back in April, where he pitched eight scoreless innings allowing just three runs and struck out eight.

The Mariners are another team that brought in some talent that has not lived up to the hype. They come into this game having lost eight of their last ten, and their pitching, which was supposed to be one of the better staffs in the league, has struggled as they’re 24th with a 4.35 ERA.

Chris Flexen has pitched poorly recently as he’s 0-3 with a 6.98 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP in May. Earlier in the month, his start against the Astros was one of his only good ones as he pitched five innings, allowing just one run, but earned the loss as the Mariners were shut out.

Flexen would have to be nearly perfect to keep Seattle competitive against Justin Verlander, who’s looking better than ever. With the way he’s been pitching lately, that isn’t happening.

Leg 3: Astros -1.5
