San Fransisco Giants (+100) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-118) O/U 8

(First Pitch 2:16 p.m. ET)

The Giants are coming into this game with a nice six-game winning streak. The team struggled a little while back as they’ve dealt with injuries, but as the lineup returns, they begin to play well.

Jakob Junis will get his second start of the season, and whether he begins the game, or comes later he’s been an anchor for this pitching staff. His previous start this year came against the Cardinals. He went five innings allowing two earned in the 4-3 win.

Dakota Hudson was on the other side of that matchup, and if we’re being honest, he did not pitch well in that game. Lasting just 4.2 innings, he walked four and struck out zero before being pulled. Control problems have plagued Hudson his whole career, and he even led the majors in 2019 with 86 free passes.

San Francisco is a disciplined team at the plate, and that should get some runners on leading to runs scored.

Leg 1: Giants ML

Cincinnati Reds (-112) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (-104) O/U 8

(First Pitch 6:36 p.m. ET)

The Reds and Pirates aren’t going to win you too many bets unless you’re betting against them, but betting the over has also been profitable. The Reds have been helping bettors cash in the over run total as it’s hit in 15 of their last 17, including Friday night’s game.

Luis Castillo will go for Cincy, and he was decent in his first start of the season, going 4.2 innings allowing three runs, but the control is off as he had three walks.

This current Pirates roster is batting just .096 against him with a strikeout percentage of 35.9%, so history is on his side, but the velocity and movement on his pitches aren’t there yet because of the right shoulder injury. As time goes along he’ll be back to the old Castillo, but he’ll have some struggles.

Zach Thompson is another cog in the very squeaky wheel that is the Pirates’ pitching staff and its second-worst team ERA this year (4.78). He’s coming into the game with a 7.08 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. He’s had control problems this year with a 15% walk rate, but also leaves pitches over the plate as he’s been hit hard. His last start was against the Reds when he pitched five scoreless innings.

Although Thompson pitched well against Cincinnati, he left it in the hands of the fourth-worse bullpen in the league, who allowed seven runs in the final three innings for the 7-3 loss. The Reds’ bullpen is even worse with a 5.05 ERA, so even if Castillo pitches a good game, the bullpen could blow it themselves.

Leg 2: Over 8

New York Yankees (-156) vs. Chicago White Sox (+132) O/U 8.5

(First Pitch 7:11 p.m. ET)

The Yankees continue to be the Bronx Bombers even out of the Bronx by scoring 24 runs in their last two games. Aaron Judge has homered in both games and now leads the league with 12, Josh Donaldson also has a round-tripper in both, and Giancarlo Stanton has three in this series.

Jordan Montgomery will be going for the Yankees, and he’s part of a rotation that has pitched consistently well this season. Monty has allowed two earned runs or less in five of six starts, with two being quality starts. He does not have a good history against this lineup as they’re batting .275 in 40 at-bats, but also the White Sox have hit lefties well this year as they’re third with a .255 average against left-handers.

The White Sox as a whole are now starting to hit better as they’ve scored 13 runs. Luis Roberts struggled to start the season but now has hit in ten straight games. They have a couple of important players, including Eloy Jimenez and Lance Lynn, who are still out, and they’ll get even better when they return.

Dallas Keuchel will go for Chicago, and he has struggled this season. Coming into this game with a 6.86 ERA, his good starts this season came against Boston and Kansas City who are 28th and 29th respectively in runs scored. The Yankees came in Friday at No. 5.

Even with Montgomery’s struggles against this lineup and the White Sox’s numbers against lefties, the Yankees’ lineup is red hot and should out-slug them. There is a reason why New York is a road favorite.

Leg: 3 Yankees ML
