Top MLB Parlay Odds & Picks for Sunday, April 24 (2022)
Sunday is usually the day a series will wrap up, and we have a few to check out today. Two games will feature the rubber match, including one divisional rivalry. Another the home team will try to get the brooms out as they have their ace on the mound that is unfortunately struggling.
(Odds courtesy DraftKings)
Boston Red Sox (+150) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (-170) O/U 7.5 (First Pitch: 1:10 p.m.)
Rays and Red Sox played an exciting one yesterday where the Rays had a combined no-hitter through nine innings. Unfortunately for Tampa Bay, they could not score, so the game went ten innings where the teams combined for five runs, ending with a Kevin Kiermaier walk-off two-run home run.
Rich Hill will go for the Red Sox, and his 2022 campaign hasn't started well. He’s been roughed up by Detroit and Minnesota, who are in the bottom nine in batting average this season.
Shane McClanahan will go for the Rays, and although the record doesn’t indicate it, he’s pitching well. He had a strong outing his last time out as he held the Cubs to one run and four hits, and nine strikeouts in six innings. He’s racking up the K’s as he has 23 in 15 innings.
While Boston is average in terms of offensive strikeouts, the opportunities will be scarce, and they won’t put up enough runs to support Hill his struggles.
Leg 1: Rays ML
Colorado Rockies (+115) vs. Detroit Tigers (-135) O/U 8.5 (First Pitch: 1:10 p.m. ET)
The Rockies and Tigers will decide the rubber match as they split yesterday’s doubleheader.
Chad Kuhl will go for Colorado and comes in with an impressive 0.87 ERA. He pitched six innings of shutout ball against the Phillies in his last start. Through 44 career plate appearances against Kuhl, this current Tigers roster is batting .179 BA, .with a 333 SLG and a .254 wOBA.
The Tigers bats came alive in Game 1 of the doubleheader but quickly lost their stem as they scattered six hits in Game 2. The Tigers bats have not roared to start the season as coming into yesterday, they’ve scored nine or fewer total runs in six straight games and 10 of their previous 12.
Detroit will send Tyler Alexander, who would love to forget his last start. He had gotten into a bases load jam against the Yankees, it seemed like he got out of it when he forced Josh Donaldson to pop up in the middle of the infield, but Alexander would muff the catch and allow two runs to score. He’d finished that inning, but he’d be done after the first.
The under has hit in both starts from Kuhl starts this season, and he should be effective in this game. The weather calls for high winds blowing in and should keep the ball in the park. Let the under roll.
Leg 2: Under 8.5
Cleveland Guardians (+175) vs. New York Yankees (-135) O/U 7.5 (1:35 p.m. ET)
The Yankees will try to get the sweep with a Sunday matinée. They have the momentum going into this game as they staged a comeback win, thanks to a Gleyber Torres single in the ninth.
Gerritt Cole has struggled out of the gate this season. He's coming off one of the worse starts of his career as he lasted just 1.2 innings and allowed two earned and five walks. He has a good history against this roster as collectively, they're batting .140 against Cole.
Aaron Civale has not fared much better this season as he comes in with a 6.34 ERA. He has not looked the same as his fastball has dropped in velocity, the swing and miss rate is down, and he’s not getting the first-pitch strike.
Eventually, these pitchers will get it right, but today we should see a high-scoring game.
Leg 3: Over 7.5
