Top MLB Parlay Odds & Picks for Sunday June 5 (2022)
Let’s finish the week with some Sunday baseball. We got a couple of games where we’ve been successful and you have the love the chances of success when you look at the matchup closely. Next, let’s cap off the weekend with the Sunday night matchup between two long-time rivals and a long-time ace’s ability to shut down an old foe.
Detroit Tigers (+260) vs. New York Yankees (-320) O/U 8.5
(First Pitch 11:36 a.m. ET)
The Yankees' pitching continues to shut down the Tigers' worse offense in baseball as they have yet to score a run and managed just four hits.
Jordan Montgomery will go for the Yankees and he's coming off a good May with three quality starts and five of six where he allowed under two or fewer runs. It's just bad how this Detroit lineup is. They've managed just five baserunners and four total bases, meaning just four singles have been hit in 57 at-bats in the last two games. The Tigers have not done much better against lefties on the road this year as they're 23rd in wOBA (.287) and OPS .636, Monty should have another quality start under his belt.
Maybe the Yanks were tired from the 13 runs they scored on Friday because they were only able to scatter three on Saturday. They'll go against Rony Garcia who has some good stuff, but you can tell he's still getting acclimated to being a starter. He was good against the Twins in his first start until the second time through the batting order where he allowed two runs, then in his second start also against Minnesota they were able to get him early then again the second time around the order.
We could see a slow start for New York, but as Garcia's pitch count climbs is when we should see them take over. Get the brooms out in the Bronx.
Leg 1: Yankees 1.5
Washington Nationals (+154) vs. Cincinnati Reds (-184) O/U 9
(First Pitch 1:41 a.m. ET)
The Washington Nationals will try and go for the sweep of the Reds in Cincinnati. Credit the lineup and the bad Reds pitching for the Nats posting two wins so far, but the script could be flipped in the finale.
What's wrong with Patrick Corbin is beyond anyone's thought as he just seems to have forgotten how to pitch as since 2020, he's 12-31 with 5.77 in 53 starts. He continues to pitch awfully allowing five or more earned runs in three of his last four starts. The Reds don't win many games, but they're a middle-of-pack offense that can score runs and should be able to get to Corbin.
The Cincinnati collective ERA is last with a 5.40, and imagine how much worse it would be without Luis Castillo's 3.38 in the mix. Just like the last couple of years, you’ll probably hear his name during the trade deadline as he’s pitching well again this year and is coming off a spectacular performance against the Red Sox where he pitched a six shutout innings and allowed one hit. Washington has been able to put up some runs against mediocre pitching the last couple of days, this will completely throw them for a loop and Castillo should have another great performance.
Leg 2: Reds -1.5
St. Louis Cardinals (-138) vs. Chicago Cubs (+118)
(First Pitch 7:09 p.m. ET)
There's been no shortage of offense between the Cardinals and Cubs as we've seen 27 runs in the first three games. The Red Birds have gotten the better end of this series as they'll look to take three of four under the lights of Wrigley.
They have the right man for the job in Adam Wainwright who would love to add a Cy Young to a career that should get him in Cooperstown. Currently he's eight in the NL with a 2.75 ERA and his sixth win would put him in second. He continues to do what he’s done for 17 years and that limit hard hits and forces ground balls. The Cubs have had trouble putting the ball in the air all season as they have the second-highest ground ball rate (47.2%) and against Wainwright the ball should see a lot of green. The Cardinals have one of the better defensive infields in the league with gold glovers all around so good luck getting anything through them
Justin Steele will go for the Cubs and he's an all or nothing power pitcher. His fastball will blow you away and has a 10.4 strikeout per nine, but awful control issues with a walk rate is 5.2. He could very well run into some trouble Sunday as the Cardinals are well discipline lineup. They have the third-lowest strikeout rate (7.23), and while they're average in walks, they'll be able to get the free passes and find plenty of scoring opportunities in this game.
Leg 3: Cardinals ML
