Top MLB Parlay Odds & Picks for Thursday, April 7th (2022)

With all drama in the off-season, we still end up with a season starting nearly on time with a full 162 games. You will be covered for Opening Day as there should be 10 hours of continuous play to check out. There are quite a few divisional matchups to start the season, so let’s highlight three to make a wager on.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-1.5) O/U 8 (First Pitch 4:15 p.m. ET)
Adam Wainwright will come into his final season at 40 years young and is still as dominant as ever, coming off a 17-7 3.02 ERA season. He was even more dominant against Pittsburgh, giving up just one earned run in thirty innings. When you look at the possible starting Pittsburgh lineup, it’s filled with players who have little to no history with Wainwright (Colin Moran is the only player on the Pirates hitting over .300 with more than 20 at-bats). This will be a strong start for the Red Bird’s ace on his final Opening Day in Busch Stadium.

The Pirates will counter with third-year start JT Brubaker. Brubaker had some solid outings against St. Louis last year, including an early-season appearance where he gave up three runs and struck out seven. Who knows why things turned for the worse, but the Pirates’ ace started 2021 strong with a 2.58 ERA through his first seven starts. But in the eighth against the Cardinals, he allowed five runs and three walks in 5 2/3 and for the season had a 6.59 ERA. The Cardinals will get a convincing win in the home opener.

Leg 1: Cardinals -1.5 (-102)

New York Mets (-1.5) vs. Washington Nationals  O/U 9 (First Pitch 7:05 p.m. ET)
The Buck Showalter era begins on Thursday, but it’s already feeling like familiar territory for the Mets. The season hasn’t started, and the injury bug has hit the team hard, with the top of the rotation being out already. With no $40 million man Max Scherzer or Jacob deGrom to turn to, they will go with Ty Megill, who was 4-6 with a 4.52 ERA in his rookie season. Last year, he had two starts against Washington and allowed six earned in 11 innings while striking out 13. While this was not the expected starter, he should have a solid outing against the Nats

The Nationals have some great players, including Juan Soto, who’s one of the best in the game, but the roster is a shell of the one they put out for the 2019 World Series championship. One of the pieces is Patrick Corbin, who has not pitched well in the last two seasons, posting an 11-23 record with a 5.50 ERA. His history against the Mets is not any better, as he’s allowed the second-highest slugging percentage (.464) and the most home runs (23) among teams he has at least 20 starts against. The trends say look at the total as the Nats went over 13 of 20 games when the total is set between eight to ten at home.

Leg 2: Over 9 (-115)

Kolten Wong to record two hits (+135) against the Chicago Cubs (First Pitch 2:20 p.m. ET)
The reigning NL Central champs will start their season at Wrigley Field to face the Cubs. In his first year with the Brewers, Wong had one of his best seasons with a career-high 14 home runs and 32 doubles. On Opening Day, he gets to face a familiar foe in Kyle Hendricks. His 45 career at-bats are the most against any pitcher. With familiarity comes success, and he has it with a career .356 batting average against Hendricks. He should be able to have a multi-hit game to start the season.

Leg 3: Kolten Wong to record two hits (+135)
