Top MLB Player Prop Odds & Picks for Friday, April 15 (2022)

We head into a stacked weekend of baseball with several enticing series, including the Rays taking on the White Sox, the Cardinals going toe-to-toe with the Brewers, and the Braves facing the Padres. There’s plenty of action on the diamond so let’s lock in a few player props to have some skin in the game on Jackie Robinson Day!

Jorge Polanco O/U 1.5 Total Bases

This afternoon, the Twins open up a four-game series with the Red Sox in Boston. The pitching matchup sees Joe Ryan squaring off against Nick Pivetta in this game set for a 2:10 ET first pitch.

In his season debut, Nick Pivetta allowed four earned runs over 5.2 innings in a losing effort against the Yankees. The right-hander allowed four hits and issued three free passes while striking out four batters. Pivetta has faced the Twins over 27 at-bats, and they slash .367/.481/.924 against him.

As for Jorge Polanco, he has Pivetta’s number. The switch-hitting infielder is 4-5 against Pivetta with two home runs and a triple. Polanco is comfortable hitting at Fenway Park, where he went 3-9 in 2021 and blasted two home runs. There are expected winds blowing out to right field between 14-18 mph during the game, so if Polanco can get a ball up in the wind, we might clear the over on his total bases with one swing of the bat. I like the plus-money payout for Polanco to record at least two total bases this afternoon.

Bet: Jorge Polanco Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125 via DraftKings)

Giancarlo Stanton O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Yankees and Orioles open up a three-game series in Baltimore tonight at 7:05 ET. Jordan Montgomery toes the rubber for New York while Baltimore counters with Jordan Lyles.

Jordan Lyles is a 31-year-old right-hander who signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal with the O’s over the offseason. Lyles made his Orioles debut in Tampa Bay on Saturday and gave up five earned runs over 5.0 innings. He allowed seven hits and three walks while fanning two batters.

Giancarlo is off to a decent start in 2022 with a .240 average, two home runs, and six RBIs. The 32-year-old slugger has faced Lyles in nine at-bats, and he’s 4-for-9 with two doubles and a round-tripper. Like the Polanco prop above, there’s also a wind factor in this game. The wind is expected to be blowing out to left field between 10-13 mph during the game. I like Stanton to pick up an extra-base hit in tonight’s game and reach the over on his total bases number.

Bet: Giancarlo Stanton Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125 via DraftKings)

Franmil Reyes O/U 0.5 Total Bases

This weekend, the Guardians host the Giants for a three-game series at Progressive Field. The first pitch is set for 7:10 ET, with Carlos Rodon going for San Francisco while Zach Plesac gets the nod for Cleveland.

Carlos Rodon inked a two-year, $44 million contract over the offseason with the Giants. He’s coming off of a fantastic 2021 campaign, where he posted a 2.37 ERA over 24 starts with the White Sox. One of those starts was against Cleveland, and Rodon was able to throw his first career no-hitter. Rodon has a lot of success against the Guardians in his career. Over 74 at-bats, he’s limited them to a .091/.150/.180 slash line.

Specifically, Rodon has stifled Franmil Reyes at the plate. The power hitter is just 1-6 against Rodon with two strikeouts. Additionally, Reyes is off to a rough start on the season with a .179 batting average and .385 OPS. Rodon should be able to silence Reyes again tonight and not give up a hit to him.

Bet: Franmil Reyes Under 0.5 Total Bases (-115 via DraftKings)
