Top MLB Player Prop Odds & Picks for Sunday, April 17th (2022)

We have wire-to-wire baseball action today with the Nationals taking on the Pirates at 1:35 ET and we conclude with Sunday Night Baseball between the Braves and Padres at 7:08 ET. All 30 teams are in action, so we have plenty of betting options for today’s player props.

We went 2-1 yesterday with our player props and that inched us a little bit closer to profitability on the year. Our overall record is 11-18 on the year and the $100 bettor is down $497.75 (-4.98 units). Here’s what I’ll be locking in for Sunday’s slate:

Randy Arozarena O/U 0.5 Total Bases

The White Sox are looking to break out the brooms against the Rays this afternoon as they send Vince Velasquez to the mound. The Rays counter with J.P. Feyereisen in this one that’s set for a 2:10 ET first pitch.

Vince Velasquez made his White Sox debut on Tuesday, allowing one earned run over 4.0 innings on two hits and three walks. The right-hander is coming off of a 2021 campaign where he posted a 6.30 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 94.1 innings.

Randy Arozarena will return to the lineup this afternoon after being ejected in the 6th inning of yesterday’s game due to arguing balls and strikes. The up-and-coming star is batting just .182 on the season with a .424 OPS and just one RBI. But, he’s faced Velasquez over three at-bats in his career and has a double and a single. I like the Rays to bounce back today and Arozarena to collect at least one total base.

Bet: Randy Arozarena Over 0.5 Total Bases (-145 via DraftKings)

Shohei Ohtani O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Angels have taken two out of the first three games in this series, which concludes today at 2:35 ET in Arlington. Los Angeles goes with Jose Suarez to handle the starting pitching responsibilities while the Rangers opt for Martin Perez.

Martin Perez is 0-1 to start the year and allowed three earned runs over 4.0 innings of work on Tuesday in Colorado. He surrendered seven hits and walked a batter while striking out two. The left-hander is coming off of a 2021 season where he posted a 4.74 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.

Shohei Ohtani’s bat is heating up as he rides a six-game hitting streak entering today’s contest. He’s blasted three home runs over the last two games and driven in six RBI’s. He has faced Perez over eight at-bats and has three hits. I like Ohtani to continue causing damage at the top of the lineup and go for at least two total bases in the series finale.

Bet: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105 via DraftKings)

Jose Uriquidy O/U 4.5 Hits Allowed

The rubber match between the Astros and Mariners is set for a 4:10 ET first pitch this afternoon from T-Mobile Park. Jose Uriquidy takes the ball for Houston while Seattle goes with Matt Brash.

Right-handed Uriquidy has made one start this season, lasting 5.0 innings and allowing one run on four hits and striking out two batters. He’s posted a 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP to start the season. Uriquidy has faced the Mariners lineup in 28 at-bats in his career and they have a slash line of .177/.285/.267.

Seattle has the 25th ranked offense in terms of batting average this season at .206 and they’re 22nd in batting average against righties at .216. I like Uriquidy to handle this Seattle lineup and limit them to under five hits this afternoon.

Bet: Jose Uriquidy Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-160 via DraftKings)
