Top MLB Team Totals Odds & Picks for Monday, April 18th (2022)

The Red Sox have been playing at 11 a.m. ET on Patriots’ Day since 1959. It’s a festive day in Massachusetts where the citizens honor the Battles of Lexington and Concord each year. There’s only one way to commemorate the battles, and that’s by playing baseball! I’ll be taking a team total in this game, and I’ve listed two other team totals that I like for Monday’s 11-game MLB slate.

Boston Red Sox O/U 4.5 Total Runs

The Red Sox will look to take three out of four games in their series against the Twins this morning as they send Rich Hill to the mound. The Twins counter with Dylan Bundy as the first pitch is set for 11:00 ET today.

Dylan Bundy had an exceptional season debut against the Mariners last Monday as he shut out the M’s over 5.0 innings and allowed just a single hit. But, the right-hander is coming off of a 2021 season with the Angels, where he posted a 6.06 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. While Bundy had a quality first outing, I don’t think that reflects the “true Dylan Bundy” that we’re used to.

Dylan Bundy made 103 starts with the Orioles over a five-season span, so the Red Sox are very familiar with him. The current lineup has faced the righty in 155 at-bats, and they’ve found some success, slashing .246/.390/.479 against him. Boston has blasted eight home runs with 10 doubles and driven in 23 runs against Bundy. Xander Bogaerts is 12-36 with three long balls, while Jackie Bradley Jr. is 8-30 with a home run and four RBIs. I like the Red Sox to clear their team total on Patriots’ Day.

Arizona Diamondbacks O/U 3.5 Total Runs

The Dbacks and Nationals open up a four-game series in the nation’s capital tonight at 7:05 ET. Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber for the Snakes while Josiah Gray takes the ball for the Curly W’s.

Josiah Gray is 1-1 to start the year with a 4.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 9.0 IP. He recently threw 5.0 shutout innings against the Braves on Wednesday, allowing just one hit. He hasn’t faced any Arizona batters yet in his career.

This is a pure fade of the Diamondbacks’ offense and will likely be a continuous bet throughout the season for us. Arizona owns the league’s worst offense in terms of both batting average (.152) and runs scored (21). They have the second-to-last team OPS at just .548. Their early offensive woes aren’t just due to a random slump; this is a fundamental issue with the hitters. Don’t expect these problems to turn around overnight, take the under on Arizona runs tonight.

Bet: Arizona Diamondbacks Under 3.5 Runs (+104 via FanDuel)

Colorado Rockies O/U 4.5 Total Runs

The Phillies travel to Coors Field to start a three-game series with the Rockies with a first game that’s scheduled for 8:40 ET. Aaron Nola goes for Philadelphia while Colorado sends Chad Kuhl to the bump.

Aaron Nola has not been sharp to start the new campaign, and the right-hander has allowed seven earned runs to start the season over 9.1 innings of work. Most recently, the Mets ran up his pitch count and forced an early departure after giving up three earned runs in just 3.1 innings pitched.

Nola has faced the Rockies lineup in 75 at-bats, and Colorado is slashing .374/.392/.551 with three home runs and six doubles. Charlie Blackmon is 7-19 against Nola with a long ball, while Kris Bryant is 4-13 with a homer. C.J. Cron is 2-3 and Elias Diaz is 2-4. The Rockies are swinging the sticks very well to start the year. Sure, they’ve played seven of their nine games at Coors Field, but they’ll continue with their homestand tonight, so we shouldn’t see a dip in production. Look for the Rockies to force an early exit from Nola, tune up the 24th ranked bullpen of the Phillies, and score at least five runs tonight.
