Top NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, April 7

With nine games on tap for tonight, betting value abounds. The slate’s most interesting matchup will serve as the nightcap, as the Utah Jazz head to Phoenix to play the Suns. They’re favored by a 1.5-point margin, and our experts are split on which team offers more betting value.

Here are the top NBA betting plays for Wednesday, April 7, provided by BettingPros experts James Bisson and Isaiah Sirois (Main game odds courtesy BettingPros Consensus; lock and prop odds sites may vary):

Betting Lock of the Day

Sirois: Suns +1.5 (-106 at FD Sportsbook)
I don’t really understand why the Jazz are favored despite playing on the road. They lost to the Suns in Utah earlier in the season, and they haven’t been great against the spread as an away team. Their 13-13 ATS record when playing outside of Salt Lake City is actually the 10th-worst ATS record for away games. In contrast, the Suns sport a 17-9 ATS record at home, the second-best in the NBA. They have lost just eight games at home this year. My efficiency-based betting model favors the Jazz by only a 0.6-point margin, which gives us almost a full point of edge on Phoenix. It’s worth noting that both teams are playing in the front half of a back-to-back set; the Suns have the Clippers tomorrow, while the Jazz have the Trail Blazers.

Top Team Prop of the Day

Sirois: Hornets Over 109.5 (-114 at FD Sportsbook)
The Hornets are on a six-game road trip, and they have struggled toward the back end of it. We can blame some of that on Gordon Hayward’s injury. Though he remains out for the Hornets, the trends point to some value on this line. The full-game totals have gone over in 55.6% of Charlotte’s away games and in 60% of Oklahoma City’s home games. Charlotte’s offense should be well-rested enough to put a high-scoring game together, especially against the Thunder, who rank last in defensive efficiency over the last three games.

Top Player Prop of the Day

Sirois: Joe Harris Over 13.5 Points (-116 at FD Sportsbook)
With James Harden on the shelf and Kevin Durant making his first start in months, Joe Harris may need to pick up the slack. He averages 14.2 points per game, a hair above this total, and he has a friendly matchup on tap. The game total (233.5) is the slate’s highest, and the Pelicans allow the ninth-most points to shooting guards and the sixth-most points to small forwards, the two spots where Harris is likeliest to spend his time tonight. New Orleans also gives up the most made threes per game (15.1). Harris would need just four of them and change to sail over this total. Lock this one in before the Nets announce Durant’s minutes limit.
