Top NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, February 3
Weâve got a jam-packed 10-game slate on tap for tonight, but with several teams on back-to-backs, some key players may end up sitting. You should keep an especially close eye on the statuses of star players as this eveningâs tip-off approaches.
Here are the top NBA betting plays for Wednesday, February 3, provided by BettingPros experts James Bisson and Isaiah Sirois (Main game odds courtesy BettingPros Consensus; lock and prop odds sites may vary):
Betting Locks of the Day
Bisson: Wizards and Heat Over 227 (-105 at FD Sportsbook)
Basketball fans certainly get their moneyâs worth when the Wizards hit the court. Washington is seeing an average of 239.5 points scored through their first 17 games, which makes Wednesdayâs total feel criminally low. Sure, Miami games only average just north of 218 points, but have you seen how crazy things get when the Wizards are involved? Add in the fact that the Heat are expected to be close to fully healthy for this one, and I donât see how we donât get to 230-plus in what should be a defense-optional game.
Sirois: Timberwolves +8.5 (-114 at FD Sportsbook)
I donât understand this spread. The Spurs lost to the TâWolves by an eight-point margin the last time these teams met, and Minnesota didnât even have Karl-Anthony Towns! San Antonio is on a two-game losing skid, and theyâll have a hard time turning things around without LaMarcus Aldridge tonight. My efficiency-based model favors the Spurs by just four points here, so youâll get a whole 4.5 points of value by taking the TâWolves here.
Best Team Props of the Day
Bisson: Cavaliers First Quarter ML (+152 at FD Sportsbook)
This bet is probably one youâll want to hold off on making until we know the status of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, both of whom played heavy minutes in Tuesdayâs narrow loss to Brooklyn. Iâm guessing at least one of the Clippersâ stars will sit in a winnable game against the Cavaliers â and should Andre Drummond return to action (his status is the other big news to monitor here), the rested Cavs will be in prime position to get out to a fast start on their home court.
Sirois: Pelicans First Quarter +0.5 (-110 at FD Sportsbook)
The Pelicans score the fifth-most points per first quarter (30.5) and allow the third-fewest points per first quarter (25.7). But since theyâre the second-worst team in the Western Conference, you can get their first-quarter lines at a discount. It helps that the Suns score the 10th-fewest points per first quarter (27.3), too.
Best Player Props of the Day
Bisson: Victor Oladipo Over 5.5 Assists (-150 at FD Sportsbook)
As always, the books know whatâs up. John Wall will sit out Wednesdayâs game against Oklahoma City, leaving Oladipo to do the majority of the ball-handling in his absence. Oladipo is already averaging 5.4 assists in seven games since joining the Rockets, and the absence of Wall in what is expected to be a tightly-contested game bodes very well for Dipoâs assist upside. He could very well get to double-digit dimes here â making this player prop is one of the safer ones of the night.
Sirois: Tyler Herro Over 16.5 Points (-112 at FD Sportsbook)
Herro throttled the Wizards for 31 points back in early January, and he only has to score half that amount to go over against them tonight. Although he has only gone over this total once since his return from injury, Herro played 30-plus minutes in each of those three games. That means itâs not a question of usage. The Wizards give up the 12th-most points per game to shooting guards (23.2), and with the point total set all the way up at 227.5, Herro should easily hit the over.
