Top NFL Week 2 Preseason Betting Picks: Jaguars vs. Saints (8/23)
NFL preseason week 2 is almost come and gone but not before two more teams go at it tonight as the Jaguars visit New Orleans and the Saints. With questions at quarterback (different questions, but questions) nagging both teams, tonight offers another opportunity for both staffs to see more of what they’re working with.
Let’s take a closer look at how things are stacking up as kickoff approaches.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New Orleans Saints (-4; O/U 37.5)
For the Jaguars, 23-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the preseason opener still offered plenty of encouraging signs for a team with a completely new identity under first-year head coach Urban Meyer. Top overall pick Trevor Lawrence looked as sharp as could be expected, completing 6/9 passes before being pulled off the field.
The defensive side of the ball did lead to some cause for concern after the combination of Kyle Lauletta and Case Keenum put up 319 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day.
For the home Saints, for the first time in a decade, a major question mark at quarterback is lurking just weeks before the team kicks off its regular season. Following the departure of future Hall of Famer Drew Brees, Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are still battling to see who will be getting QB1 reps coming week 1.
With just one more preseason game remaining, expect both to see a plenty dose this week, with rookie Ian Book likely taking more of a back seat until QB1 has been decided.
In their preseason opener, the Saints two-deep and three-deep guys played well despite the loss to the Ravens (17-14), with only a late touchdown sealing the deal for the Ravens.
In this one, I like for the more veteran Saints team to establish more of a game plan heading in and be more capable of executing it than this young Jaguars squad. While Meyer may slowly be building a contender, I expect the inexperience across the board to plague them early and often.
