St. Louis Blues (-265) @ Anaheim Ducks (+210), o/u 6 (-125/+105)
The Central Division’s third-place St. Louis Blues travel to Anaheim to take on the Pacific Division’s sixth-place Ducks. The Blues enter this contest in great form as they have won 10 of their last 11 games prior to Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Ducks have lost 17 of their last 20 games prior to Saturday. These are two teams trending in polar opposite directions, and I do not expect anything to change in this matchup.
Of the Blues’ 10 wins mentioned earlier, eight have come by at least a two-goal margin. Since they are on the second half of a back-to-back, we can expect to see Ville Husso between the pipes for the Blues.
Husso has been great all season as he boasts a 0.923 save percentage and ranks third amongst starting goaltenders in five-on-five goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx). Across the ice, the projected starting goaltender for the Ducks is John Gibson.
Gibson has been atrocious since the all-star break as he is just 3-15-3 with a 0.878 save percentage. Not only does St. Louis possess the better goaltender, but they also possess the better offense as they rank higher this season than Anaheim in five-on-five expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF).
Best Bet: St. Louis Blues -1.5 (-105)
Minnesota Wild (-120) @ Nashville Predators (+100), o/u 6.5 (+100/-120)
We have a big Central Division tilt as the second-place Minnesota Wild travel to Nashville to take on the fourth-place Predators. This is the fourth matchup between these two teams this season as the Predators have won each of the three previous meetings by at least a three-goal margin.
While I do not suspect such a lopsided affair to occur once again, I do think that the Predators will defend home ice and walk away with the win. Nashville has been tremendous on home ice all season as they are 44-28-5 at Bridgestone Arena.
They have had even more home success when facing Central Division opponents as they are 9-3 this year. On the other hand, Minnesota is not nearly as dominant when on the road as 19 of their 28 losses this season have come when playing away from the Xcel Energy Center.
On the road against Central Division opponents this year, the Wild are just 4-8 straight up. Minnesota will also be without a few key pieces in this contest as Zuccarello, Dumba, and Greenway are all listed as out for this game.
In a game where both teams are searching for a win to keep their current playoff seeds, I like the Predators to get the job done in front of their home crowd.
Best Bet: Nashville Predators ML (+100)
Best of luck!
