Colorado Avalanche (-165) vs. Boston Bruins (+140), o/u 6

The Central Division’s first-place Colorado Avalanche hit the road today to take on the Atlantic Division’s fourth-place Boston Bruins. Today will be a battle of two heavyweights and should make for a great game to start the day.

While Colorado is primarily known for their goal-scoring ability, their recent games have seen lower-scoring affairs. Over their past seven games, there has been six or fewer total goals scored in six of them.

The same thing rings true for the Boston Bruins as eight of their last nine games have seen six or fewer total goals scored. The primary reason for these trends for both teams has been quality goaltending.

Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the start today for the Avalanche. Kuemper has been outstanding in the crease recently as he has allowed two or fewer goals in nine of his last 11 starts.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Swayman is projected to get the start for Boston today. He too has been in terrific form as he has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his last eight starts.

I will be riding two hot goaltenders today in spite of two good offenses.

Best Bet: Avalanche/Bruins u6 (-110)

Seattle Kraken (+150) vs. Vancouver Canucks (-175), o/u 6

In tonight’s nightcap, we have a Pacific Division showdown as the eighth-place Seattle Kraken travel to Vancouver to take on the sixth-place Canucks. Tonight will be the third meeting between these two teams this season as both the first two games have seen six or more total goals scored.

I believe we are in store for another high-scoring affair between these clubs tonight. Over Seattle’s last five games, four of them have gone over six total goals scored.

Over Vancouver’s last six games, five of them have reached at least six total goals scored. This play is also a fade on Seattle’s goaltender Philipp Grubauer, who has been the worst starting goalie in the NHL this season.

This year, Grubauer has a measly 0.887 SV% and ranks dead last amongst starting goaltenders in 5-on-5 goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (GSAx). All the trends point to the over tonight, and with Grubauer in net for the Kraken I am confident that we see at least six total goals scored.

Best Bet: Kraken/Canucks o6 (-105)

All betting information was gathered from puckline.org and TopDownHockey.

Best of luck tonight!
