Top NHL Parlay Odds & Picks for Wednesday, May 11 (2022)

There is a great schedule of Game 5’s as we could see one series end tonight. The other two have been exciting to watch with some close games and some blowouts, but it does not matter as they’ve become a best of three. Some of the best offenses in the league will be on the ice tonight so expect to see the lamp get lit.

Pittsburgh Penguins (+110) vs. New York Rangers (-135) O/U 6

(Puck Drop 7:07 p.m. ET)

You can’t complain about the lack of offense in this series, as there have been 34 goals scored so far.

The Penguins lit the lamp like a Christmas tree with seven goals, including five in the second in the Game 4 win.

Pittsburgh’s regular-season leading goal-scorer Jake Guentzel has five goals in the series as he came up with two more last night, and Sidney Crosby’s seven points are tied amongst the playoff leaders. The big turnaround goes to Louie Dominque, who struggled in his first two starts and had a great game by saving 22-of-24. Starting goaltender Tristian Jarry could be ready for Game 5, so the question will be if they want to make the switch in this possible close-out game.

Igor Shesterkin shut down the Penguins during the regular season; he has done anything but in this series. He went 4-1 against Pittsburgh during the regular season with a .960 save percentage and a 1.01 GAA. He has a .905 save percentage, 4.26 GAA, and a -1.19 goals saved above average in these four games. He’s giving up nine goals in his three periods and has been pulled in back-to-back games, which will rattle your confidence. Head coach Gerald Gallant says he’ll stick with Shesterkin, but you have to believe he has a short leash.

The Rangers’ offense is playing well with 14 goals, but the problem is the blue line has been letting the Penguins set up in the zone and get second chances of the shots. The second chance is where Shesterkin has struggled.

Chris Kreider, who led the team with 52 goals, needs to make himself known in this series as he has just two goals. He’s the leading force on that first line and the first power-play unit, and a good game from him could keep the Rangers’ season alive.

It’s shocking to see after the game from Monday, Vegas has decided to drop the hook from Game 4. The over is an easy one.

Leg 1: Over 6

Washington Capitals (+180) vs. Florida Panthers (-220) O/U 6.5

(Puck Drop: 7:37 p.m. ET)

This has been an interesting series with momentum swings from game to game.  We’ve had two blowouts in these four games, and the last game was a tight and exciting overtime win.

Game 4 was the most thrilling. The Capitals clung to a one-goal lead late in the third until Sam Reinhard would hit the equalizer with just over two minutes left, followed by Carter Verhaeghe getting his second goal of the game in overtime and tying the series at two.

After the 6-1 loss in Game 3, the Panthers changed their lines and defensive pairing, and it worked. What’s still astonishing is that Florida, who was fifth in power-play conversions (24.4%), has a massive goose egg in power-play goals this series (0-for-13). You have to imagine how frustrating that is. They need to convert with the man advantage, or it’s hard to see them winning two more.

Florida is one of the top offensive teams during the regular season but has yet to have that breakout game. They’re doing well at attacking the zone and getting shots, and it’s just a matter of when it will result in points. Getting the two late goals and a road win might be the spark.

Leg 2: Panthers ML

Dallas Stars (+180) vs. Calgary Flames (-225) O/U 5.5

(Puck Drop: 9:37 p.m. ET)

Dallas could not stop Calgary from getting into their zone as they took 53 shots in Game 4. Enormous credit goes to Jake Oettinger for holding down the net for more than two periods and keeping it 1-0. Unfortunately, the Flames got hot in the third period, and after the Johnny Gaudreau goal off the penalty shot, the flood gates opened.

Oettinger is by far the best goaltender in the playoffs as he leads in save percentage (.960), goals saved against average (7.14),  and goals saved against expected (9.53). Saving 49 shots is no easy task, and most goals would not have allowed just three in that situation.

This means the Stars need to make adjustments in Game 5. Expect head Rick Bowness to make some changes on the lines and defensive pairings as they need to do better at clearing out the puck.

The Flames are another great offensive team that has struggled in the first round. They now have six in the last two games after scoring just one goal in the first two games. They showed how resilient they are in Game 4, and although it took a while to break the game open, they played strong from the first puck drop, and it paid it as they wore Dallas down.

Leg 3: Flames -1.5
